     *** GVC Modem Driver Upgrade Instructions ***

   This file contains instructions for upgrading your GVC modem to 
   the V.90 protocol.
   You'll need a blank formatted floppy disk before you begin.

   GVC Modem Upgrade Instructions

   1. Download the file from our web page.Disconnect from your ISP.

   2. Double-click the file to extract it. Save the extracted 
      files to a floppy disk. When you're asked where to save 
      the files, insert an empty formatted floppy disk, make 
      sure the letter representing your floppy disk drive is 
      displayed (usually A:), and click Unzip.) Click Close 
      to exit the archive file.
    
   3. Beginning at Start, select Settings, Control Panel.
    
   4. Double-click System. 
   
   5. Click the Device Manager tab.
   
   6. Click the plus sign (+) next to Modem and select the name of 
      your modem. 
   
   7. Click the Properties button.
   
   8. Click the Driver tab.

   9. Click the Update Driver button.
   
  10. Select Yes to let Windows 95 look for the drivers.
      Click Next. Windows 95/98 will look in your floppy drive for
      the floppy disk with the drivers.

  11. Click Finish to install the new drivers.

  12. Click OK to the error message asking you to insert a floppy 
      disk.

  13. Type A: and click OK when you are asked to show Windows 95/98 
      where the drivers are. (Use a different letter if your floppy
      disk drive isn't A.) Windows 95/98 will find and copy the 
      files from the floppy disk.The Update Device Driver will 
      close when the update is completed.
      Exit the Properties and Device Manager windows.


    1. Beginning at Start, select Settings, Control Panel. 
       Double-click modems.

    2. Click the Diagnostics tab.

    3. Select the COM port associated with your modem, and click
       the More Info... button. Next to the line starting with 
       ATi3, look for LT V90.... 
       This indicates you have successfully upgraded your modem to 
       V.90, and that it is installed correctly in Windows 95/98.
       Click OK twice to return to the Control Panel.

Congratulations! You have successfully upgraded your GVC modem.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
