NeoMagic Video Driver Installation Instructions Latitude Systems 8/1/96 Copyright 1996 Dell Computer Corporation. All rights reserved. Windows 3.1x ------------ 1. Start Windows. If you are already in Windows, close any documents and applications since this procedure will require that Windows be restarted. 2. Insert the Dell Latitude Graphics diskette into drive A:. 3. From the Program Manager "File" menu, and select "Run...". 4. In the "Run" window, type "A:\WIN31\SETUP.EXE" (without the quotes) in the "Command Line:" box. 5. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the display driver. 6. When the installation completes, go to the "Main" window in the Program Manager and select the Control Panel. In the Control Panel, select the "Video Configuration" control. 8. In the "NeoMagic Video Configuration" window, follow the on-screen instructions to change the video mode. Windows 95 ---------- 1. Boot into Windows 95. If you are already in Windows 95, close any documents and applications since this procedure will require that Windows 95 be shutdown and restarted. 2. Insert the Dell Latitude Graphics diskette into drive A:. 3. Select the "Start" button on the Task Bar (usually at the bottom of the screen). When the Start menu is displayed, select "Settings", followed by "Control Panel". When the Control Panel is displayed, select "Display". Alternatively, right click on the Windows 95 background and select "Properties". 4. In the "Display Properties" window, select the "Settings" tab. 5. Select the "Change Display Type..." button near the bottom of the window. 6. When the "Change Display Type" window is displayed, select the "Change..." button in the "Adapter Type" box. 7. When the "Select Device" window appears, select the "Have Disk..." button near the bottom. 8. The "Install From Disk" window will appear. Verify "A:\" (without the quotes) is displayed The "Copy manufacturer's files from:" box. Select the "OK" button. 9. When the second "Select Device" dialog appears, verify "NeoMagic NMX" is selected, then select the "OK" button. 10. A progress bar will be briefly displayed as the files are copied to the correct location on the hard drive. 11. When the "Change Display Type" window is displayed again, select the "Close" button. 12. Select the "Close" button at the bottom of the "Display Properties" window. 13. When prompted, select "Yes" to restart the computer. 14. To change the display settings after the computer reboots, follow steps 3 and 4 above to go to the Settings tab in the Display Properties window. From here you can adjust the display configuration. Windows NT 3.5x --------------- 1. Boot Windows NT and log in. If you are already in Windows NT, close any open documents and applications since this procedure will require the Windows NT be shutdown and restarted. 2. Insert the Dell Latitude Graphics diskette into drive A:. 3. In the Main group of the Program Manager, select the Control Panel. 4. In the Control Panel, select Display. 5. When the "Display Settings" dialog appears, select the "Change Display Type..." button. 6. In the "Display Type" dialog, select the "Change..." button in the "Adapter Type" box. 7. When the "Select Device" window appears, select the "Other..." button in the lower right. 8. The "Install From Disk" window will be displayed. Verify box titled "Manufacturer's information located in:" contains "A:\WINNT351\" (without the quotes), then select the "OK" button. 9. The "Select Device" window will be displayed again, with "NeoMagic" selected at the bottom of the "Models:" list. Select the "Install" button. 10. When the "Installing Driver" window is displayed that asks if you want to proceed, select "Yes". 11. If a message is displayed that indicates the Display drivers are already installed on the system, select the "New" button to upgrade the drivers. 12. When prompted for the full path to the NeoMagic display driver files, make sure "A:\" (without quotes) is shown, then select the "Continue" button. 13. A progress bar will be briefly displayed as the files are copied to the correct location on the hard drive. Then a message will be displayed indicating the drivers were successfully installed. Select "OK". 14. A message will be displayed indicating the driver could not be started dynamically and NT must be restarted. Select "OK". 15. Remove the diskette from the diskette drive. 16. Another message will be displayed indicating that the display settings have changed. Select "Restart Now". Windows NT will shutdown and restart. 17. When it restarts, an "Invalid Display Settings" message may be displayed telling you to select the preferred display resolution via the Display option in the Control Panel. This is normal. Select "OK". 17. If the Display Settings window has been opened, continue to the next step. If it is not visible, open it by selecting Display in the Control Panel. 18. In the Display Settings windows, configure your preferred display settings. Select "Test" and follow the on-screen instructions to verify the new display setting is functioning properly with the display. 19. Once the test procedure is completed successfully, you will be prompted to restart since the display settings have changed. Select "Restart Now". 20. Windows NT will shutdown. When it restarts, the new display settings will be in effect. - end of file -Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
