IMPORTANT NOTE
--------------

If you received your system from Dell Computer with the operating system
pre-installed, you do not need to install the drivers on this diskette.

The installation instructions below need only be followed if you are
installing the operating system for the first time, or re-installing
the operating system on a blank hard disk drive.

Windows 95
----------

 1. Start Windows 95. If you are already in Windows 95, close any documents
and applications since this procedure will require that your system
    be restarted.

 2. Insert CMD Fast IDE diskette into drive A:.

 3. From the Start Menu, choose "Settings" and launch the "Control Panel"
    application.

 4. Double-click on the "System" application.

 5. Single-click on the "Device Manager" tab located along the top of the
"System Properties" window. This will show you a graphical list of all
the hardware devices in your computer.

 6. From the list of devices, click on the "Standard Dual PCI IDE Controller"
entry located under the "Hard disk controllers" category. The "Standard
Dual PCI IDE Controller" entry should now be highlighted. Double-check
that the correct entry is selected before proceeding.

 7. Click on the "Remove" button to unload the standard driver. Windows 95
will display a warning dialog box which indicates that the device is
about to be unloaded. Confirm this deletion by pressing the "OK" button.

 8. Close the Control Panel application. At this point, Windows 95 may ask
whether to restart the computer. If so, choose "No" to prevent Windows
    95 from restarting.

 9. From Control Panel, launch the "Add New Hardware" wizard.

10. Follow the instructions on the screen until Windows 95 asks whether to
search for new hardware. Choose "No" and "Next" to manually install
the device driver. Windows 95 will now display a list of device
    categories to choose from.

11. From the list of device categories, choose "Hard disk controllers" and
    "Next".

12. Select "Have Disk..."

13. With the "CMD Fast IDE" diskette in drive A:, press "OK".

14. From the list of device options presented, double-click on "CMD
PCI-0643 Bus Master PCI to IDE Controller."

15. Select "Next" and "Finish".

16. Close the "Control Panel" application.

17. Remove the diskette from the A: drive.

18. From the "Start" menu choose "Shut Down", "Restart the computer?",
and "Yes". Windows 95 will now restart and will display a "New
Hardware Found" dialogue box. This box will prompt for reinsertion
    of the CMD diskette.

19. Insert the "CMD Fast IDE" diskette into the A: drive and select "OK".

20. Windows 95 will next prompt for the source file path. In the "Copy files
from:" box, type "A:\" (without quotation marks). Select "OK".

21. Remove the diskette from the A: drive.

22. Restart the Computer to activate the CMD Fast IDE device drivers.
