D-Link DU-H4SMK Windows 2000 Drivers ¡V Installation Guide This document describes the installation of D-Link's Windows 2000 drivers for the USB to serial function supported by D-Link's DU-H4SMK USB Hub Controller. The guide consists of a driver summary, a guide to installing the drivers with generic INF files and finally a guide to uninstalling the drivers. Driver Summary The USB <-> Serial Port drivers include the following modules dlkbus.sys WDM driver for serial converter dlser2k.sys WDM driver for serial communications dlkbus.inf INF file supporting installation of USB to Serial converter dlser2k.inf INF file supporting installation of Serial port Installing the Drivers The following section describes the installation of D-Link's Windows 2000 followed by the installation of a serial modem on the newly installed serial port. Where earlier versions of D-Link drivers have been loaded on the installation machine or where problems are being encountered please uninstall D-Link's drivers using the Windows 2000 Add/Remove Hardware Wizard in combination with D-Link's dlkun2k utility. First copy driver and INF files onto a floppy. Plug in USB to serial cable. This brings up the Found New Hardware Wizard ¡V Searching for Drivers. The walkthrough is fairly straightforward ¡V select [Next] when required, pointing the Wizard to search floppy a:\win2k . This installs the drivers for D-Link DU-H4SMK. This is then repeated with the Found New Hardware Wizard ¡¥Searching for Drivers¡¦ for the D-Link USB Serial Port. Once this has completed successfully the installation can be checked as follows My Computer -> Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager ¡V>View First select to view by connection Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) BIOS -> Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System -> PCI Bus -> PCI to USB Host Controller -> USB Root Hub -> Generic USB Hub -> D-Link DU-H4SMK -> D-Link USB Serial Port (COMx) Then select to view by type Ports (COM & LPT) -> D-Link USB Serial Port (COMx) Plug modem serial cable socket into USB to serial cable dongle. Select My Computer -> Control Panel -> Phone and Modem Select Add Modem ¡V and proceed to load Windows 2000 drivers for modem. If an .INF file is available for the modem of choice then Windows will complete plug and play interrogation of the modem and configure it as required, otherwise the modem will be installed as a standard modem. To test the modem My Computer -> Control Panel -> Phone and Modem select the modem of interest then Properties -> Diagnostics -> Query Modem Alternatively connect to the internet through an ISP, remembering to change settings to use the newly installed modem.Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
