How do I install the DFE-530TX in Linux Red Hat 5.0 and above?

*****************************************************************************

Note: The driver for the DFE-530TX, via-rhine.o, is included in Red Hat distributions 5.0 and up. The module is located at /lib/modules/*.*.**-**/net, *.*.**-** being the kernel that you are currently using.

Example: 2.2.12-20

Make sure the network card has been installed in a PCI slot that supports bus mastering and that bus mastering has been enabled in the BIOS.

Step 1 Log on as root user or any user that has administrative rights and move to
the root directory.

# cd / [Enter]

Step 2 Run linuxconf or netconf to set the device name, kernel, IP address, etc.

# netconf [Enter]

	Select “Basic Host Information”. [Enter]

The net device implies that this is the first network card in the computer and the kernel module is the driver for the card.
	net device: eth0
	kernel module: via-rhine

Check with your administrator for an appropriate IP address and whether or not you are using static or dynamic addressing.

Step 3 Reboot the system with init 6 or use ifup eth0 to refresh the device. Run ifconfig to verify that the settings are correct.
