	UTAX CD41/CD51 Printer Driver for Windows 2000
------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Description
        This application is a printer driver for Microsoft(R) Windows(TM) 2000.

2. Requirements        
        Software:  Microsoft Windows 2000
        Hardware:  A true IBM PC/AT compatible computer
                   Minimum 133 MHz Pentium processor recommended
                   64 MB of RAM recommended
                   10 MB of free hard disk space
                   One IEEE1284 bi-directional parallel
                   printer cable
        Printer:   UTAX CD41/CD51

3. Installation
	To install this printer driver, please follow the instructions below:
	
	From Add Printer
           1) Start Windows.
           2) Click the Start button, point to Settings, and then click 
              Printers.
           3) Double-click Add Printer.
           4) Follow the instructions on the screen.
	   5) When the driver files are required, please select "OEMPRINT.INF" file from
	      its printer driver folder.
           6) When the "Digital Signature" screen appears during installation, please select "Yes"
              and continue installing.  
           7) UTAX CD41/CD51(PCL) printer as default printer.
 
        If there are any optional devices (Paper Feeder,Output Device ) attached to your printer 
        or if you have extended the printer memory, please follow the next directions after
        installing the printer driver.
           8) Click "UTAX CD41/CD51(PCL)" icon with the right mouse button, 
              and click "Properties". 
           9) Set optional devices under "Installable Options".
          10) Click "OK" or "Apply" and the setting willl become effective.      

	NOTE:
          Please execute following operations to upgrade printer driver from old one to new one.
           1.Before installing new driver, please remove old driver, 
             and restart the PC.
           2.Please refer to "4. Uninstall" when removing the old driver.
           3.We recommend you to restart your PC after removing the old driver. 
             (The driver file may not be completely removed from your PC.) 

4.  Uninstall  
      To uninstall this driver, please follow the instructions below:
        1) Click the Start button, point to "Settings", and then click "Printers".
           Click "UTAX CD41/CD51(PCL)" icon with the right mouse button, 
           and click "Delete". 
        2) Follow the instructions on the screen.
 	3) Next, remove the unnecessary Driver File (Driver File:3aypcl.dll, 3aypclut.gpd)
	   from your PC.
           Click "File" button, and point "Server Properties".
           Click "Driver" Tab in the display.
           Select "UTAX CD41/CD51(PCL)", and then point "Remove".
            

5.  Notes and restrictions 

    Notes
        1) If you print a job using the Group mode or Sort mode on 
           this printer, do not select Collate option in the Print 
           dialog box of the application software.

	2) If you want to print a job using the Sort mode, 
           open the Printer Driver screen and click  "Advanced" button.
           "Collated" will appear if you set Copy Count at "2" or more but this does not
           mean that Sort mode is ready.
           For this printer, please select "Sort" under Sort Mode in the same screen. 

	3) Other printer drivers may affect a print job, which can cause
           improper printout.
           Remove some or all your other printer drivers and start 
           the print job again.

        4) If an error occurs on this printer, cancel the current print job
           in the printer basic screen on the operation panel, or turn the
           printer off and then on. After that try to reprint the job.

        5) In some cases, you may fail to reach the printer driver screen 
	   from the printing option in the application. If you desire to change 
	   printer settings, please go to "Printer" which you can find 
	   in "My Computer".
           Click UTAX CD41/CD51(PCL) icon with the right mouse button, 
           click "Printing Preferances.." and set the printer feature.

        6) There are two ways to print a job using Booklet mode.
           --(A) In case you select Booklet in the "Advanced Options" screen;
             Click "Advanced" button
             Select the particular Booklet mode in the screen
           --(B) In case you set Booklet in the "Layout" screen;
             Open the Layout screen
             Select Booklet under "Pages Per Sheet"

           For this printer, we recommend (A).
           Please do not set above (A) and (B) at the same time.  

       7) Please be careful of the stapling position when using Staple mode by selecting "2"
           under "Print Per Sheet."
           We recommend you to select "Staple-Rear" in the following situation;
             ---Document size is A3/B4/Ledger/Legal and printing in the vertical direction.
             ---Document size is A4/B5/Letter and printing in the horizontal direction.
         
    Restrictions
	1) When Booklet (B) is selected, the frame lines will be printed.
           You may find the center line to be out of position when folding the paper in half.. 
      
	2) Booklet is not available unless all paper sizes in the file are the same. 
	   Punch and Staple are available accordingly to the paper size.

	3) When some application could not print correct font ,  please change 
	   "Print Optimizations" setting to Disable. 
	   (Disable: Print as Graphics)

	4)It may print improperly when originals has multiple size page or different 
	  orientation with "Duplex" or "Pages Per Sheet" function.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
