It consists of the following files: disk1.tag - Verification file on the disk, setup checks for this file to ensure that the user inserted the correct disk. hal1521.dll - Actual HAL binary readme.txt - This text file txtsetup.oem - For a user to install custom HAL during text-mode setup, distribution disk must include this file which directs installation of HAL hal1521.inf - used for upgrades hal1521.cat - digital signature file 1.1 Overview about this code - This HAL allows for the system flexibility to operate in various configurations, including the case where not all slots have been populated with functioning CPUs. Furthermore, it allows for an increased number maximum total interrupt inputs from all APICs. 2.0 Change History ---------------------------- v1.8 - reboot fix v1.7 - SP3-based v1.6D - Various enhancements (including performance counter and SMI) v1.4D - Initial official digitally signed release 3.0 Installation and Setup Instructions ----------------------------------------------- 3.1 Installing Custom HAL during clean install of system - Note: Please read instructions below prior to performing these steps. After completing Windows 2000 setup, apply the Service Pack Upgrade. a) Power on machine and insert a bootable Windows 2000 CD b) When the message "Press any key to boot from CD" appears, press a key (I.E. Space bar) to boot from the Windows 2000 CD c) As the message "Setup is inspecting your computer's hardware configuration" appears, immediately press the 'F5' key Note: You may need to press the F6 key for SCSI driver installation just after pressing the F5 key d) When prompted to select the "Computer Type", select 'Other' and press 'Enter' e) Insert the floppy disk containing the custom HAL ("System 1521 Windows 2000 HAL Support Diskette"), into the floppy drive (A:), and press 'Enter' f) Select "System 1521 (Windows 2000 HAL)" and press 'Enter' g) Setup will now automatically load the HAL from floppy and continue the installation process. 3.2 Upgrading Custom HAL on running system - a) After booting into Windows 2000, bring up Device Manager. To open Device Manager, click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. Double-click System, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager. b) Under 'Computer' select device (ie ACPI Multiprocessor PC or ACPI Multiprocessor Node) and double-click on this device c) Select Driver Tab d) Click 'Update Driver' button to start Upgrade Wizard and e) Press Next to continue f) Select 'Display a list of the know drivers for this device so that I can choose a specific driver' and press Next g) Select 'Have Disk' button, then h) Insert this floppy into system floppy drive and click OK i) To install 'ACPI Muliprocessor Node' HAL from diskette select Next j) To start installation click Next and complete Upgrade Wizard k) For new HAL to be used select Yes when prompted to Reboot 4.0 Configuration Information ------------------------------- 4.1 Systems Requirements 4.2 Software Requirements Microsoft Windows 2000 4.3 Hardware Supported This HAL is intended to support the System 1521 Platform.Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
