INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1)   Insert CNet's CNF301 PC Card Ethernet adapter into your
     computer's Type II PC Card slot.

2)   Connect the Media Coupler to the adapter's 15-pin connector.

3)   Connect the network cable to the RJ-45 connector on the
     Media Coupler. (Refer to the User's Manual for exact instructions).

4)   Copy CNF301.DOS and PROTOCOL.INI from this diskette
     to the C:\NDIS directory.
         COPY A:\NDIS20\DOS\CNF301.DOS C:\NDIS
         COPY A:\NDIS20\DOS\PROTOCOL.INI C:\NDIS

5)   Insert the Pathway Setup Program diskette into the disk drive
     and run the setup program by typing:
     PWSETUP <enter>

6)   After the "Pathway Setup Program for DOS" window appears, choose
     "Installation".

7)   In "Installation", pick "Pathway Run Time".  In "Pathway
     Run Time", highlight "Quick Setup for NDIS".

8)   In the "Pathway Runtime Quick Setup for NDIS" window,
     input the appropriate floppy disk drive letter as the source drive.
     The destination should be "C:\PATHWAY".
     Also, set the IP address and the number of subnet mask bits.

9)   In the "Driver NDIS and Kernel Configuation" window,
     enter the path "C:\NDIS" to the device driver and the
     PROTOCOL.INI file

10)  There is a screen editor for modifying the configuations with
     respect to 10BASE, Hardware Interrupt, and Driver Name. To exit
     the editor press the F4 key.

11)  Next, use the select bar to change the software interrupt and
     network frame type.

12)  The Pathway Setup program will copy all relevant files and modify
     the CONFIG.SYS file as well as the AUTOEXEC.BAT file automatically.

     Note: In the C:\CONFIG.SYS file, the COPEN.EXE command line
     must precede the line CNF301.DOS command. Below is a sample:

     DEVICE=C:\COPEN\COPEN.EXE /IO=xxx /IRQ=yy

     DEVICE=C:\NDIS\CNF301.DOS

13)  Reboot.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
