LAN Server V3.0 Installation Guide

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1)   Insert CNet's CNF301 PC Card Ethernet adapter into your
     computer's Type II PC Card slot.

2)   Connect the Media Coupler to the adapter's 15-pin connector.

3)   Connect the network cable to the RJ-45 connector on the
     Media Coupler. (Refer to the User's Manual for exact instructions).

4)   Copy A:\NDIS2\OS2\CNF301.OS2 to C:\IBMCOM\MACS.

5)   Copy A:\NDIS2\OS2\CNF301.NIF to C:\IBMCOM\MACS\CNF301.NIF.

6)   Invoke C:\IBMCOM\LAPS.EXE to install the network driver.

7)   There are several buttons including "Install", "Configure", "Remove",
     "Exit" and "Help" in the "LAN Adapter and Protocol Support" window.
     Choose the "Configure" button.

8)   In the "Configuration" subwindow, select the "Configure LAN Transports"
     item and click on the "Continue" button.

9)   In the "Network Adapters" box of the "Configure Workstation" subwindow,
     highlight the "CNet CNF301 PCMCIA Ethernet Adapter" and click on the "Add" button.
     Now, the "Current Configuration" box shows the "CNet CNF301 PCMCIA Ethernet
     Adapter" message.

10)  Users can add the appropriate protocols in the "Protocols" box and the
     chosen protocols will appear on the "Current Configuration" box as well.

11)  Add an extra statement in the CONFIG.SYS file before the statement
     about the CNF301.OS2 driver. The format of the statement sequence is
     listed below. Note that the COPEN.EXE command must precede the
     CNF301.OS2 command line.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
