Quick Installation
==================
        
Install the EXTERNAL Modem with Windows NT4.0



1. Turn on your PC.  Press <Ctrl+Alt+Delete> and log onto Windows.  
   Insert the Windows NT 4.0 CD-ROM into the drive.

2. Click <Browse This CD> on the "Windows NT CD-ROM" window that pops up.  
   Go to Drvlib\Pnpisa\X86\Pnpisa, right-click over this file, and select    
   "Install" on the pop-up menu.

3. Reboot your computer, and install/reapply Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 3 
   (or greater).

4. Reboot your computer again and hit the <Delete> key to enter CMOS Setup.     
   Select the    "Chipset Feature" or "Integrated Peripherals" option.  
   Enable your onboard serial COM2    port (base I/O address 02F8) and 
   IRQ 3 on your motherboard.  For further details, consult the user's 
   manual for your motherboard.

5. Reboot your computer and log back onto Windows.  From the <Start> menu, 
   go to <Settings>, select <Control Panel>, and double-click on the <Port>       
   icon.  To add  your newly enabled COM port, click <Add> and select the
   following items:  


	COM Port Number:		2	
	Base I/O Port Address:		02F8
	Interrupt Request Line (IRQ):	3
	FIFO:				Default (Checked)

6. Click <OK>.  The "System Setting Change" screen will pop up.  Select 
   "Restart Now".

7. Wait for your system to reboot.  Log back onto Windows NT 4.0.  From 
   the <Start> menu, go to <Settings>, select <Control Panel>, and 
   double-click on the <Modems> icon.  

8. The "Install New Modem" window will come up.  Be sure to leave the item
   "Don't detect my modem, I will select it from the list." unchecked.  
   Click <Next>.  Windows will    identify your new modem as a "Standard 
   Modem".  Click on <Change> and then on <Have Disk>.
  
9. Insert the MegaConnect CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive and click <OK>.  Browse 
   to "D:\AE56SPRA" and click <OK>. Select the modem driver 
   "Apache V90 2MB External, NetExpress, Speakerphone", click <OK>, then <Next>. 
 
10. The "Modem Setup Screen" window will pop up.  Click <OK>, <Finish>, and <Close>.  
    Go back to the Control Panel, and double-click on the <Network> icon.  Click on 
    the "Services" tab.  Click <Add>, select "Remote Access Service", and click <OK>.

11. A window will pop up detecting the "Com 2 - Apache V90 2MB External, NetExpress,
    Speakerphone".  Click <OK>.  Insert the Windows NT 4.0 CD-ROM into your CD-ROM 
    drive, close the Windows menu and click <Continue>.

12. The "Add RAS Device" window will pop up.  Click <OK>.  At "Remote Access Setup", 
    click on <Configure> and select your Port Usage (COM2).  Click <OK>.  Back in the
    "Remote Access Setup" window, click on <Network>.  Set the following:

	Dial-Out Protocols:			TCP/IP only
	Allow Remote Clients Running:		TCP/IP only
	Encryption Settings Require:		Microsoft encrypted authentication
	Require Data Encryption:		Blank
	Enable Multilink:			Blank

13. Click <OK>, <Continue>, <OK> again, <Close>, and finally <Yes>.  Your installation 
    is now complete.  Restart your computer. 

NOTE:	For Dial-Up Networking some Internet Service Providers (ISPs) require that you 
        load their script file for NT.  This file is provided by your ISP.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
