YAMAHA DS2416 DirectX Driver Disk for Windows95/98(File Set V3.40b)
Thank you for choosing a Yamaha product.
YAMAHA DS2416 DirectX Driver for Windows 95/98 is an audio driver for
the DS2416 card when installed in a Windows 95/98 system.
<<<<<<<< Notes for using the DirectX driver >>>>>>>>>>>>
You can use one of eight MME devices with the DirectX driver. You can
not use the DirectX driver for all DS2416 channels.
1) Using the DirectX driver and MME driver
- You can use either the MME driver or the DirectX driver (but not
both) for each channel.
The primary buffer of the DirectX is not assigned to the channels
assigned by the MME driver.
- If you try to use the DirectX driver function while channel 1 is
assigned by the MME driver (while the sound is being produced),
the primary buffer is assigned to channel 2.
- If you try to use the DirectX driver function while no channel is
assigned by the MME driver, the primary buffer is assigned to channel 1.
- If you are using the DirectX driver function and no sound is pro-
-duced via the MME driver, you cannot use channel 1 (that is being
used as the primary buffer) via the MME driver. Use other channels.
2) Using the DirectX driver and the ASIO driver
- You cannot use the DirectX driver and the ASIO driver simultaneously.
If you are using the DirectX driver with one DS2416 card, you can
not use the ASIO driver simultaneously.
However, if you are using the DS2416 along with the SW1000XG, or if
you are using multiple DS2416 cards, you can use the ASIO driver
with one of the cards. In this case, do not connect these two cards
each other.(When the ASIO driver is started, a message appears telling
you to connect the cards. If you do not connect the cards, you can use
the ASIO driver and the DirectX simultaneously.)
<Using multiple DS2416 cards>
If you assign the DirectX driver to the card that controls the latter
half of the DSP-Factory Mixer channels, you can assign the ASIO driver
to the card that controls the first half of the channels.
<Using the DS2416 and the SW1000XG>
If you use the DirectX driver with the SW1000XG, you can use the
ASIO driver with the DS2416.
* Selecting a card used with the DirectX driver
Select a device in the [playback] tab of Windows Control Panel/Multi-
-media and restart Windows.
* Stereo 16-bit sound will be played at 44.1kHz.
You can select a different format for the DirectX setting. However,
playback is fixed to 44.1kHz/stereo 16-bit. If you select a different
format, the DirectX driver will convert the format, which will lower
the efficiency.
To achieve stable playback with the lowest latency value, we recommend
the settings of 44.1kHz/stereo 16-bit. (The format options vary
depending on the application you are using with the Direct X.)
* GigaSampler version 1.6 or later can be used with the DirectX driver.
