readme.txt Driver File Contents (hj40098.zip)

OVERVIEW
========

This is a driver that will enable support for the Brother HJ-400. It should
work with the Brother HJ-770 and OsborneJet printers although these have not
been tested.

This is a totally unsupported driver. I did not develop it, I've just bundled
files off the Windows 98 CD. It works here so do not contact me if it doesn't
work as I probably won't be able to duplicate your problem.

INSTALLATION
============

1. Click on "Start", on "Settings", then click on "Control Panel".
2. Click on "Printers" and select the "Add Printer" icon.
3. Upon seeing the introduction, click on "Next"
4. Select "Local Printer" and click on "Next"
5. When presented with a list of printers to choose, click on "Have Disk"
6. Input the directory where you've unpacked the driver files and click on "Ok"
7. Select your printer model and click on "Next"
8. Select the port (normally LPT1:) and click on "Next"
9. Input a name for your printer or leave the default then click on "Next"
10. Select "Yes" to print a test page and press "Finish"
11. See if it works.

TROUBLESHOOTING
===============

If you have trouble, try using another printer port such as LPT2. If you still
have trouble, try setting your printer as an Epson LQ-510 with the built-in
drivers and see if you can at least send something to it. Besides that, there's
not much more you can do. Remember that if your printer or cable has a
malfunction, no driver will work at all.
