Descrizione del release
=======================

Il software Matrox PowerDesk include un driver dello schermo e 
alcune utilità. L'utilizzo di questo software consente di trarre 
pieno vantaggio dall'hardware della scheda grafica Matrox e di 
accedere alle caratteristiche di visualizzazione aggiuntive.


Installazione
=============

Per installare Matrox PowerDesk, avviare il programma di 
installazione incluso, quindi seguire le istruzioni che appaiono 
sullo schermo.

Tale programma installerà il software solo se nel computer è 
presente un modello supportato di scheda grafica Matrox.

Note, problemi e limitazioni
============================

- Supporto per DirectDraw, Direct 3D e DirectVideo

  Il driver DirectDraw fornito dalla Matrox è compatibile con 
  DirectX 2 (o versioni successive) e include il supporto per 
  Direct 3D. Affinché venga richiamato il driver DirectDraw/Direct 
  3D e si possa sfruttare l'accelerazione mediante hardware, DEVE 
  essere installato Microsoft DirectX 2 (o una versione 
  successiva), anche per i programmi che erano stati 
  originariamente scritti per Microsoft DirectX 1.

  Inoltre, se non è installata una versione recente di DirectX, 
  alcune caratteristiche di Matrox PowerDesk potrebbero non essere 
  disponibili.

  La Matrox fornisce DirectX sul CD-ROM Matrox. La versione più 
  recente di DirectX è disponibile presso il sito della Microsoft 
  sulla Web ed è incluso in molti programmi DirectX.

  IMPORTANTE: Se il programma di impostazione di DirectX richiede 
  di sostituire i driver video esistenti, fare clic su "No". In 
  caso contrario, il programma di impostazione installa driver 
  video che non sono ottimizzati come quelli della Matrox e che non 
  supportano il software di 
  PowerDesk.

  Si noti che a seconda dell'origine del software di Microsoft 
  DirectX, esso può non includere il supporto per DirectVideo. Per 
  ottenere una riproduzione più rapida dei file Indeo e Cinepak 
  AVI, bisogna installare il supporto per DirectVideo Microsoft.

- Bus master Matrox

  Il driver supporta il bus master. Il bus master è una 
  caratteristica che consente alle schede di espansione di eseguire 
  operazioni contemporaneamente a quelle eseguite dalla CPU del 
  computer. Se si possiede un computer Pentium che esegue le 
  operazioni rapidamente (con velocità superiore a 166 MHz), le 
  prestazioni dello schermo per la maggior parte dei programmi 
  migliorano quando si usa il bus master.

  Per usare il bus master con i programmi 3D (Direct3D/OpenGL), è 
  necessaria una richiesta di interrupt (IRQ -- interrupt request) 
  per la scheda grafica.La maggior parte dei computer assegna 
  automaticamente un'IRQ alle schede grafiche, ma non tutti 
  eseguono tale operazione. Se alla Scheda grafica in dotazione non 
  è stato assegnato un'IRQ, i programmi che usano il bus master 
  Matrox possono non funzionare correttamente. Per ulteriori 
  informazioni, consultare la guida Matrox o quella del sistema.

- DirectDraw e Programmi per la gestione del risparmio energetico

  Come dichiarato in "Microsoft DirectX Release Notes" (Note di 
  rilascio di Microsoft DirectX) del 30 settembre 1995, un gioco 
  DirectDraw può non riprendere correttamente se viene sospeso dai 
  programmi per la gestione del risparmio energetico.

- Installazione in versioni in lingue diverse di Windows

  Se si installa il software in una lingua diversa da quella del 
  sistema operativo, (per esempio software in inglese in un sistema 
  in giapponese), si possono verificare problemi con il testo e i 
  controlli della finestra di dialogo, che possono risultare 
  troncati. Ciò avviene a causa di differenze fra i font di sistema.

- Supporto OpenGL

  Si notino le seguenti limitazioni correlate al driver OpenGL (3D) 
  incluso nel driver video Matrox:

    - If you have a newer Matrox product or your Matrox software 
      was provided by the manufacturer of your computer, full 
      OpenGL support may be disabled with your Matrox display 
      driver. For a Matrox display driver with full OpenGL support 
      enabled, see the Matrox Web site (www.matrox.com/mga). (If 
      your Matrox product was provided by the manufacturer of your 
      computer, check the Web site of that manufacturer for a 
      display driver. A display driver provided by the manufacturer 
      of your computer is more likely to be tested with your 
      computer model.)

    - In 3D Studio MAX 2.0, è possibile che si verifichino dei 
      problemi con una finestra erroneamente ridisegnata. Se ciò si 
      verifica, fare semplicemente clic in una finestra per 
      aggiornare correttamente lo schermo. Questo problema non si 
      verifica con la versione 2.5 (o versioni successive) di 3D 
      Studio MAX.

- DualHead Multi-Display mode under Windows 2000

  If you have a DualHead-supporting graphics card and you apply 
  "DualHead Multi-Display" mode under Windows 2000, this version of 
  Windows treats the main and secondary displays of a DualHead-
  supporting graphics card as a single display (which the Matrox 
  display driver divides between two monitors). As a result, these 
  displays always use the same resolution and color palette 
  settings. Also, in your Windows desktop, the virtual positions of 
  these displays are always aligned next to each other.

  While in DualHead Multi-Display mode with a computer monitor as 
  your secondary display, you can't adjust your secondary monitor 
  with the Windows "Monitor" or the Matrox PowerDesk "Monitor 
  Settings" property sheets. If your secondary monitor supports 
  Plug-and-Play (DDC), PowerDesk automatically uses the correct 
  maximum display resolution and refresh rate. If your secondary 
  monitor doesn't support Plug-and-Play, make sure that the correct 
  settings are selected under "Max. secondary resolution" on the 
  Matrox PowerDesk "DualHead" property sheet.

- Video playback with DualHead modes

  If you have a a DualHead supporting graphics card and you're 
  using DualHead Multi-Display, Clone, or Zoom mode, digital video 
  may appear as a solid color on your secondary display. This can 
  happen if video is played using the hardware-overlay feature of 
  your Matrox graphics card. Video played using the overlay feature 
  is generally of higher quality but it can be viewed only on your 
  main display.

  Because only one program at a time can use the overlay feature, 
  any other program started while the overlay feature is used won't 
  be able to use the feature. The overlay feature will be available 
  to the first program to start after the program currently using 
  the overlay is closed.

  For video that normally uses the hardware-overlay feature, you 
  may be able to view the digital video on your secondary display 
  by running another instance of the video player. For example, if 
  you're viewing a file using the overlay feature with Microsoft 
  Media Player, double-clicking on the file again starts another 
  instance of the Media Player. This instance properly plays video 
  on your secondary display. Then, you could close the first 
  instance of the Media Player and still be able to view video on 
  your secondary display.

- DualHead DVDMax with a TV

  While viewing video with a TV using the "DualHead DVDMax" 
  feature, you may notice occasionnal jerky video playback (dropped 
  frames) after playing a video for a few minutes. If you view 
  video playback with your computer monitor, this problem shouldn't 
  occur.

- Supporto per la tavolozza di colori a 15 bit per Windows 2000

  Per utenti esperti: la tavolozza di colori a 15 bit, normalmente 
  non è disponibile in Windows 2000. Se si volesse utilizzare 
  questa tavolozza di colori, si può abilitarla creando la chiave 
  "User.Enable15Bpp" con il valore "1" nel registro di Windows. 
  Aggiungere tale chiave in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" > "SYSTEM" > 
  "CurrentControlSet" > "Services" > "mgau" o "g200" o "g400" > 
  "Device0". Il tipo di valore è "REG_DWORD".
