PCM-5862 Utility Disk (V1.4) /w IT8661 support             Date : 11/13/1998

The PCM-5862 is supplied with a software utility disk. This disk contains the
necessary files for setting up the VGA display.
Directories and files on the disk are as follows:

AMIFLASH.EXE
------------
This program allows you to write the VGA display driver files to the BIOS
Flash ROM. The VGA files all come ready formatted for the PCM-5862 with .BIN
extensions. They are custom written and can be made available upon request.

This binary file contains the system BIOS

Supports CRT only

5862_TFT.BIN

Supports 640X480 color TFT

Supports 640X480 color STN DD 8/16-bit displays

CBROM.EXE

This program allows you to combine your own VGA BIOS with
system BIOS(5862-SYS.BIN)

If you have your own VGA BIOS ( which supports special flat panel ) for
PCM-5862 , please update your BIOS refer to the following example:

              COPY 5862-SYS.BIN 5862-NEW.BIN
              CBROM 5862-NEW.BIN /VGA NEW-VGA.DAT
              AWDFLASH 5862-NEW.BIN

NEW-VGA.DAT : Your own VGA BIOS file (which supports special LCD) for PCM-5862.
5862-NEW.BIN: The NEW BIOS supports your own special LCD for PCM-5862.

571W98.EXE
----------
You may follow the below installation to install Windows 98 if your system hangs during installing it.

(A) With DOS 6.22 boot diak:
1. Boot up with DOS boot disk,and execute FDISK for HDD configuration.
2. Reboot and FORMAT HDD with "/S" parameter.
3. Install DOS 6.22 (3 diskettes) completely (option).
4. Copy the extract 4 files from the SIS IDE driver(571W98.EXE) ro root directory of HDD.
5. Execute SIS98.EXE and will dreate SIS98 directory with modifing AUTOEXEC.BAT.
6. Make sure that there are two files should be exist in SIS98 directory after step 
   5.(SISFIX.EXE and SISDEFX.VXD) and the AUTOEXEC.BAT should be modified as with    "C:\SIS98\SISFIX.EXE"
7. Insert Win98 boot up disk and following the prompt to finish the installation.
8. Remove the line"C:\SIS98\SISFIX.EXE" in the AUTOEXEC.BAT after installation Win98 successfully.     

	

(B) With Win98 boot disk ONLY:
 1.Boot up with Win98 boot disk and following the prompts to configure your HDD
      for support large disk mode or not.For reboot once automatically then it will                    begin to format the HDD innediately.
    2.It will show a message "Press Enter to continue setup the Win98 or Escape to 
      exit" after finished format.(Here to Press Escape to exit,and it will be ask 
      to reboot again.
    3.Press "F5" to prompt "A" drive while showing the "Starting Windows 98" and
      copy the COMMAND.COM from boot disk to your root directory of HDD.
    4.Copy the extract 4 files from the SIS IDE driver(571W98.EXE) to root directory 
      of HDD.
    5.Excute SIS98.EXE and it will create SIS98 directory with modifing AUTOEXEC.BAT.
    6.Make sure that there are two files should be exist in the SIS98 directory after
      step 5.(SISFIX.EXE and SISIDEFX.VXD) and the AUTOEXEC.BAT should be modified
      as with "C:\SIS98\SISFIX.EXE"
    7.Insert Win98 boot up disk and following the prompt to finish the installation.
    8.Remove the line "C:\SIS98\SISFIX.EXE" in the AUTOEXEC.BAT after installation 
      Win98 successfully.

How To Update Drivers Manually

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
