Thank you for your purchase of the Canon Camera.
This README file contains the latest information on the Canon Camera TWAIN
driver. Please read this file before using the TWAIN driver.

Cautions Relating to the TWAIN Specification

The TWAIN specification is periodically updated and software development
companies modify their software to reflect these changes. Accordingly,
problems may occur because some applications do not fully comply with the
current TWAIN specification. Canon works closely with a range of software
companies to identify and resolve these problems so that our users can enjoy
trouble-free use  of the software.

1. GENERAL ISSUES
===================

(1)  Disk Space

The TWAIN driver creates a number of temporary files.
These files will be deleted when the TWAIN driver shuts down. However,
they may remain on the hard disk if the TWAIN driver crashes for any reason.
The next time the TWAIN driver is activated, such temporary files should be
deleted, if any.

(2)  16-bit TWAIN and 32-bit TWAIN

The Canon Camera TWAIN driver is a full 32-bit application.
If you see the "TWAIN_32" and "TWAIN" options on the menu in the application
program, always select "TWAIN_32".

2. Defects occuring on the part display card
=================================================
When the Twain driver is started from PhotoShopLE5.0 on the part display
card, the work may become unstable.
If this occurs, after carrying out the dispinit.exe programme, start up
PhotoShop and then use the Twain driver.
When you start up the system, we recommend that you register dispinit.exe
in the Windows start up programme.

  dispinit.exe is in the same folder as installer (setup.exe).
  On CD, there are [SOFTWARE / TW_USB / Camera type / Language] folders.

3. Cautions Relating to Specific Applications and System Configurations
============================================
Canon has tested the operation of the driver on as many TWAIN-compatible
applications and system configurations as possible. The following compatibility
problems have been found.

(1) Transferring images to Photoshop 5.0LE

The maximum number of images that can be transferred to Photoshop 5.0LE at
one time is 30.

(2) Cautions relating to communication between the Canon Camera TWAIN driver
and a Canon digital camera

When the TWAIN driver is running and is connected to a camera, the driver makes
communications with the camera periodically. Do not operate the camera controls,
remove the memory card or battery, disconnect the communication cable, or
otherwise interfere with the communications.
Such actions may cause misoperation on some PCs.
Wait until the TWAIN driver has shut down before doing such actions.

(3) Cautions relating to USB and IEEE1394 connections

Do not place your computer in standby mode while a Canon camera is connected
to the USB or IEEE1394 port.
If the computer goes into standby mode while the camera is connected to the USB
or IEEE1394 port, do not disconnect the cable from the computer. Instead, restore
the computer to normal operation mode with the cable still connected.
Unplugging the cable with the computer in standby mode may cause some computers
to not recover correctly from standby mode. For details on standby mode, refer to
your computer's manual.

4. Cautions Relating to Windows98SE
==============================
Users running the Windows 98SE operating system are recommended to install the
following update program from Microsoft web page to ensure more stable operation.

     "Windows 98 Second Edition 1394 Storage Supplement"

5. Cautions Relating to Windows98SE and WindowsME
================================================
When the camera is connected to the computer please set the auto power off
function to [OFF].
