1. ScanGear CS-S 5.5 Features

ScanGear CS-S 5.5 (hereafter referred to as "ScanGear CS-S") is a
32-bit TWAIN-compliant scanner driver for the Canon CanoScan
300, 600, FB620S or FB1200S scanners. When this driver is selected
from within a TWAIN-compliant software application program, one of
these scanners can be used to scan image data.

2. What You Need

Required Hardware

o CanoScan 300, 600, FB620S or FB1200S Scanner.
o An ASPI-compatible SCSI host adapter for Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0
o A SCSI host adapter compatible with Windows 98 for Windows 98
o 80486 MHz CPU or higher (Pentium 60 MHz or higher recommended) IBM
  or IBM compatible PC
o 16 MB RAM (32 MB more recommended) for Windows 95
o 24 MB RAM (32 MB more recommended) for Windows 98
o 32 MB RAM (64 MB more recommended) for Windows NT 4.0
o 5 MB of free disk space for ScanGear CS-S installation.
o Free disk space, at least 50 MB. The amount of space required
depends on the scanning area and the Color Mode or Resolution
setting. (Color images scanned at higher resolution require
  more storage space.)
o Minimum requirement for monitor: 800 x 600 resolution, 256-
color (higher resolution with TrueColor recommended)

Required Software

o Microsoft Windows 95, 98, or NT 4.0(Service Pack 3 or later)
o TWAIN-compliant application software

3. A General Tip on Usage

o Run only one application at a time which uses ScanGear CS-S ; do
not open more than one application that uses the ScanGear CS-S
scanner driver. Also, do not open ScanGear CS-S more than once
to acquire an image in the same application.

o If you scan a very large image at high resolution, some
applications may determine that there is not enough disk space
to scan and save the image and return an error.

o Always close the ScanGear CS-S main window before you exit the
  parent application program.

o For Windows NT 4.0, it is required that the system administrator
  install or uninstall ScanGear CS-S.

o In Windows NT 4.0 when the system file is in NTFS format, occasionally
the TWAIN data source may not open correctly. For security reasons, the
TWAIN module cannot be written to the winnt directory. For details,
  contact your system administrator.

4. Running ScanGear CS-S with Specific Applications

o If you are using TextBridge Plus, the TextBridge windows could be
displayed over the ScanGear CS-S window. If this occurs, use the
mouse to shift the focus to the ScanGear CS-S window and perform the
  ScanGear CS-S settings.

o If you are scanning originals from an ADF installed on a CanoScan 300
or CanoScan 600, in TextBridge Pro 9.0 the Legal paper size setting
cannot be selected with the Scanner Setup command in the Tools menu.
In this case, use the Paper Size setting in the ScanGear CS-S main
window to select the Legal paper size.
