                         Driver Installation Guide
                      ===============================

Introduction
============
    This document describes the procedure to install NDIS 3/4/5 driver on
    Windows 95/98/NT 4.0/2000 for PCI Phoneline Network Adapter.


Installation procedure
======================
 A. Windows 95:
    ===========
    1. Plug "PCI Phoneline Network Adapter" into one of  the  Master  PCI
       slots of your platform.

    2. Turn the power of your PC on to boot from Windows 95.   Windows 95
       may auto-detect your new adapter installed,  and the "New Hardware
       Found" dialogue box will appear. Select "Driver from disk provided
       by H/W manufacturer" to install driver from the CD  that come with
       your LAN adapter.

       Note, if your new adapter is not detected by Windows 95,  you can
       open "My Computer"->"Control Panel"->"Networks" after  Windows 95
       comes up, and select "Add adapter"->"Have disk" to install driver
       from the CD that come with your lan adapter.

    3. Insert the driver CD into your CD-ROM, and specify the path of the
       driver in the CD-ROM  (i.e. D:\ ) to copy the driver files to your
       system.

    4. When the driver installation is completed, restart Windows 95.


    Configuration NDIS3 miniport driver:
    ---------------------------------------------
    1. Click the "My Computer" icon in the Main Program Group.
    2. Click the "Control Panel" icon from My Computer window.
    3. Click the "Network" icon from the Control Panel window.
    4. Select "Adapter" item from Network Component Type dialog box, then
       click "Properties..." button.
    5. Click "Advanced" button from Properties for PCI Phoneline Network
       Adapter dialog box.
    6. Follow screen instructions to complete the process.
    7. Restart your computer.

 B. Windows 98:
    ===========
    1. Plug PCI Phoneline Network Adapter into one of the Master PCI slots
       slots of your platform.

       Found" dialogue box will appear. Select "Driver from disk provided

       your PCI Phoneline Network adapter.

       open "My Computer"->"Control Panel"->"Networks" after  Windows 98

    3. Insert the driver CD into your CD-ROM, and specify the path of the
       driver in the CD-ROM ( i.e. D:\ ) to copy the driver files to your
       system.

    4. When the driver installation is completed, restart Windows 98.


    Configuration NDIS5 miniport driver:
    ------------------------------------------------
    1. Click the "My Computer" icon in the Main Program Group.
    2. Click the "Control Panel" icon from My Computer window.
    3. Click the "Network" icon from the Control Panel window.
    4. Select "Adapter" item from Network Component Type dialog box, then
       click "Properties..." button.
    5. Click "Advanced" button from Properties for PCI Phoneline Network
       Adapter dialog box.
    6. Follow screen instructions to complete the process.
    7. Restart your computer.

 C. Windows NT 4.0:
    ===============
    Before starting with the installation process, make sure that the
    PCI Phoneline Network Adapter is properly installed and configured.

    Note: system must be upgraded to Service Pack 4 or later.

    1. Open "Control Panel" -> "Networks", and choose the "Add Adapter"
       button. The Add Noetwork Adapter dialog box appears. Select"<other>
       Requires disk from manufacturer" in the list of Network Adapters,
       and then press <Enter>.

    2. Insert the driver CD into your CD-ROM, and specify the path of the
       driver in the CD-ROM (i.e. D:\ ) if necessary.

    3. Select "PCI Phoneline Network Adapter", and start to copy the driver
       files to your system.

    4. After all the driver files have been copied to your system, then a
       property dialog box appears in the screen. You can enable the special
       properties if you want to.

    5. When the driver installation is completed, restart your PC.

 D. Windows 2000:
    =============
    Before you start with the installation process,  make sure that your
    adapter should be properly installed in your PCI bus slot. Executing
    Windows 2000 ,  it will auto-detect  your  system  configuration and
    find the adapter hardware.  (If Windows 2000 does not prompt that it
    detects the "PCI Phoneline Network Adapter", there must be something
    wrong with the PCI Phoneline Network Adapter or your system
    environment.)

    1. Win2000 will prompt Ethernet PCI Controller in New Hardware Found
       dialog box.

    2. Select "Search for a suitable driver for my device (recommended)"
       then press "Next" button.

    3. Select "Specify a location" then press  "Next" button , Insert the
       driver CD into your CD-ROM,  and specify the path of the driver in
       the CD-ROM  (i.e. D:\ ) to copy the driver files to your system.

    4. When system ask you "Do you want to continue the installation",
       click "Yes" .

    5. Click "Finish" to complete driver install frome the driver CD.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
