PRODUCT SUMMARY
---------------
TouchWare for Windows is the software for your MicroTouch
touchscreen. It allows users to select, launch, and drag objects
using the touchscreen.

TouchWare provides full touchscreen functionality for all
applications running under Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows NT 4.0,
and Windows 9X. It uses a true 32-bit implementation of the driver
and control panel to implement touchscreen support.

ENHANCEMENTS
------------
*  TouchWare 5.53 fixes a Touch lockup problem w/ WinNT4.0 Serial
   and PS/2 drivers.

* TouchWare 5.53 Serial includes a tool for re-assigning touchscreen
controllers to communication ports in multiple-monitor mode. To
   switch communication ports:

	a) Double-click on TW icon. A dialog panel showing touchscreen
instances and the corresponding com ports will appear.
	b) Select the desired com port under a touchscreen instance.
Two touchscreen controllers, previously assigned to the com
ports involved, will be automatically switched. For example,
if you see COM1 under instance 1, and COM3 under instance 2,
selecting COM3 under instance 1 will automatically assign
           touchscreen 1 to COM3 and touchscreen 2 to COM1.
	c) To run the control panel, simply click on a touchscreen instance.

This new feature is not yet documented anywhere else.

* TouchWare 5.53 installs 2-point calibration as a default. During the
regular installation, the user is advised to select 5-point calibration
for a 4-wire resistive controller. Nevertheless, if the user chooses to
restore defaults by clicking on "Restore defaults" button on the Hardware
tab, the application will default to 2-point calibration even if 5-point
calibration was selected during the installation process. If that happens,
the user can always re-select 5-point calibration on Tools->Options->Advanced
   tab.

* TouchWare 5.53 fixes problems related to invalid Block 1 read and write by
checking the size of the data sent from the controller and eliminating
   unnecessary writes.

* TouchWare 5.53 fixes some of the problems related to the screen being touched
when the controller data is being updated. It is safe to wake-up a sleeping
system with a touch (serial controller) or touch the screen during system
wake-up caused by any other device (all controllers).

WARNING! Do not touch the screen:

	a) While booting up your computer - until done (for USB - until you hear
           the beep).
        b) When you plug or unplug any USB devices.
	c) Whenever you see a warning message "Do not touch the screen..." -
at least for a second after the message disappears.

* TouchWare 5.52 fixes problems when running w/ Multiple
Logged On Users under WinNT and Win2K.

* TouchWare 5.52 fixes a Long Touch problem with the
   Serial Win2K driver.

* TouchWare 5.52 for USB includes ability to disable Auto
Calibration changes during monitor Resolution changes.
(This is disabled by setting bit 2 of HKEY_CURRENT_USER\
   ControlPanel\MtsTch\TouchMonSwitches).

* TouchWare 5.51 includes basic support for non-MicroTouch
   controllers.

* TouchWare 5.50 includes support for Windows 2000.

KNOWN ANOMALIES
---------------
1. In planning to use a touchscreen without a mouse or
keyboard installed, you must first remove the mouse and
reboot. Then, using the keyboard, you can disable the
Windows dialog warning "Mouse not found". Finally,
remove the keyboard and reboot the system.

2. If you uninstall TouchWare, be aware that you must restart the
system before you can install a new version of the software.

3. If you attempt to attach USB devices to your system after
installing TouchWare, be aware that you may lose touch
functionality during installation. You should keep a keyboard or
mouse attached to the system during USB device installation.

4. TouchWare does not support the custom directory option for
   serial multiple touchscreen configurations.

5. If you are installing a MousePort controller, you must
uninstall any previous TouchWare version and disconnect as well
as disable any existing PS/2 mouse drivers/hardware prior to
installing the new TouchWare version. Verify IRQ 12 is not being
used by the system. Even if the hardware is disconnected, the
system may still be claiming the IRQ.

Note: Some styles of laptop mice cannot be physically removed.
However, they can usually be disabled.

6. The setup program does not remove the DOSTOUCH
program from the AUTOEXEC.BAT file during a
   Windows 95 upgrade installation.

7. The setup program will only look for the default
directories for previous TouchWare versions on the
target system when doing a Windows 95 upgrade
   installation.

8. Some older video cards may cause conflicts with COM 4.
Refer to Article ID: Q127138 in the Microsoft Technical
Support Knowledge base for further information.

9. If you are using a ThruGlass controller, you may have difficulty
making selections at the top or bottom of the screen. To
correct the problem, select ThruGlass Configuration ->
   Diagnostics -> Auto Frequency.
