II. Coexistence with Other PostScript Printer Drivers
======================================================
This driver is intended to coexist peacefully with other Windows printer
drivers, including PSCRIPT.DRV, Microsoft's PostScript printer driver.
Installing this driver will not delete any installed drivers and should
not affect their operation in any way.

PostScript is a trademark of Adobe Systems Incorporated registered in the
United States.
III. Installation Instructions
==============================
IMPORTANT: SKIP THIS SECTION if you intend to use the INSTALLATION
UTILITIES provided with your printer to install your printer driver.
The instructions in this section are provided for your information
only in case you want to install the printer driver manually.
Take the following steps to install the LEXPS printer driver.
1. Start Windows 95.
2. Insert the diskette with the driver in the a: drive.
3. Select the Start button on the task bar. Then select Settings
and Printers.
4. Double-click the Add Printer icon. The Add Printers Wizard
dialog box is displayed.
5. Select the Next> button.
6. Select Local or Network printer and then select the Next> button.
7. Make sure the driver diskette is in the a: drive and select the
Have Disk... button.
8. Select the OK button.
9. Select the appropriate printer from the list and select the Next>
button.
10. If the driver was previously installed, the option to keep the
existing driver or Replace the existing driver will appear.
Select Replace existing driver and then select the Next> button.
11. Select the appropriate printer port (normally LPT1:) and select
the Next> button.
12. Type a name for the printer object or use the supplied name. If
the driver was previously installed using the supplied name, then
the new supplied name will have '(Copy #)' appended to it. This
is to ensure that two printer objects do not have the same name.
Select whether this printer object should be the default printer
or not and select the Next> button.
13. If you would like a test page to be printed through the driver
you are installing to test if the driver was installed correctly,
select Yes or No and then select the Finish button.
The following files will be copied to your Windows/System
subdirectory:
LEXPS.DRV LEXPSLNG.DLL LEXPS.HLP LEXPS.CNT
LEXPS.AVI PTAPIW16.DLL LEXMV95.DLL LEXMV95.HLP
LEXBCE.DLL LEXBCELM.DLL LEXLMPM.DLL LEXSTART.EXE
LEXPSEXT.DLL LEXMV95R.DLL
PS4079.ICM will be copied to your Windows/System/Color
subdirectory when installing the Lexmark Color 4079 plus PS2.
14. If you had previously installed the printer driver you may now
wish to delete the new printer object. The newly installed
driver files replace the existing driver files and therefore the
old printer object was also updated. By keeping the old printer
object, any settings, overlays, and user forms will be saved.
To delete the new printer object, click on the object with the
right mouse button and select Delete.
15. To open the printer object, Double-click the object then select
Printer and Properties.
Installation of the LEXPS printer driver is now complete.
IV. Envelope Printing in Windows 95
====================================
When you design or print an envelope, you must select landscape
orientation. This will ensure that the address prints in the
correct position on the envelope. To change the orientation to
Landscape, make the appropriate selection from the driver's Paper
tab or Printer Setup dialog box in your application.
V. Application Limitiations
=============================
Some applications, such as Corel Draw, Aldus Pagemaker, and Lotus
123, generate PostScript language directly instead of using the
Windows GDI interfaces to the printer driver. As a result, some of
the features of this driver do not work with these types of
applications unless the UseDrvPS switch is set in LEXPS.INI in the
Windows subdirectory. Features that may not work include Overlays,
Multipage Printing, Negative Page, Negative Image, and selectable
Fill Resolution.
VI. Specifying the Number of Copies
====================================
The Copies control on the Paper tab is independent of a Copies
option that may be available in the Print dialog box of your
Windows application. Usually, specifying the number of copies in
the printer driver Paper tab prints uncollated copies faster.
Specifying the number of copies from your Windows application may
slow down printing but may enable you to print collated copies if
your applications supports this feature. Specifying a multiple
number of copies in both the printer driver Paper tab and the
application Print dialog box should be avoided since it may
produce unpredictable results.
VII. Specifying the Scale
=========================
Some Windows applications directly provide a scaling option. With
such an application, you should try leaving the printer driver
scaling at 100 percent and set the desired scaling in the
application. If this does not produce satisfactory results, then set
the desired scaling in the printer driver and set the scaling in the
application to 100 percent. Using variable scaling factors in both
simultaneously may produce unexpected results.
VIII. Downloading Overlays
===========================
An overlay is a template that can be defined and then printed as a
background on a form before the data from the current job is
printed. For instructions on downloading an overlay, see the Help
section in the Paper tab of the printer driver property sheet. If
your overlay contains an image, you must ensure that the data is being
sent to the printer as Ascii 85. This option can be selected in the
printer driver's PostScript tab. It must be set both when creating
and downloading the overlay.
Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
