How to install Solaris/x86 version 7 or 8 1. This is the first beta version (v1.00) driver and used for Solaris/x86 version 8 or 7. 2. It does not support Speed/Duplex-Force mode, it depends on the hardware Nway auto-negotiation in this version. 3. It supports the Realtek's native PCI-VID_DID cards, VID_10EC_DID_8169, in the install script. 4. Install method: a. Power-off your PC and insert your RTL8169 adapter. b. Boot-up you Solaris/x86 and login as "root". c. Copy the "rtlg100.zip" into the temporary location in your hard-driver. d. UNZIP the "rtlg100.zip" and you will get 2 files, "rtlg" and "Install". e. If the PCI ID for your RTL8169 adapter is not VID_10EC_DID_8169, you can modify the "Install" file to match your PCI ID, VID_ABCD_DID_WXYZ for example, modify the "pci10ec,8169" to "pciABCD,WXYZ". f. Run the "Install" from File Manager to install the driver, and it will modify 2 files, "/etc/name_to_major" and "/etc/driver_aliases" g. You need to create the "/etc/hostname.rtlg0" file and modify some other related files to make your networking environments working well. h. You can execute "touch /reconfigure" then "shutdown -i5 -g0", so that Solaris will reboot and scan changed hardware environment. i. You can execute "ifconfig -a" to make sure the RTL8169 driver is up.Download Driver Pack
