   CNet GNIC-2000L Gigabit Ethernet Adapter Windows Driver Installation Guide

   Windows NT 4.0 

   Introduction:
   -------------
   This document describes the procedure to install  Windows NT 4.0
   driver for CNet GNIC-2000L Gigabit Ethernet adapter.

   Location of Windows NT 4.0 Driver : \WinNT\DP83820.SYS
  
   Installing driver procedure on Microsoft Windows NT :
   -----------------------------------------------------
   When you are in Windows NT :

   1. Launch the "Control Panel" from the "Settings folder" of the "Windows Start menu".

   2. Launch the "Add Adapter" from the "Network Settings" dialog box of the "Control Panel".

   3. In the list of network cards, select "other" Requires disk from manufacturer
      then press "Enter" button.

   4. Insert the CNet GNIC-2000L driver disk in floppy, enter drive and pathname
      A:\WinNT (for NT 4.0) which is the path where the setup file "OEMSETUP.INF"
      located, then choose the "OK" button.

   5. The screen will pop-up "Select Line Speed" dialog box which is provided
      by "DP83820.SYS" driver.

   6. The default value is "auto" so that the CNet GNIC-2000L Gigabit Ethernet Adapter
      and its driver "DP83820.SYS" will auto-detect the cable speed, "10Mb", "100Mb" 
      or "1000Mb", while the "DP83820.SYS" is loading. 

   7. The other values "10", "100" or "1000" are only used when you want to 
      forced CNet GNIC-2000L Gigabit Ethernet Adapter to "10Mb", "100Mb" or "1000Mb".

   8. The screen will pop-up "Input Ethernet ID" dialog box which is provided by 
      "DP83820.SYS" driver. This option is only required when you have more than
      one CNet GNIC-2000L Gigabit Ethernet Adapters on this computer Select "SKIP"
      if only one adapter is installed on this computer.

   9. Continued, the binding process is run by NT. If any additional network
      software options were installed,  you may be prompted for specific
      information for these packages.

  10. Restarting your system then you will acquire networking service.


   NOTES:
   ------
      *  Installing Multiple LAN Adapters:

         Enter Windows NT and follow above setup procedure step 2, in the
         "Network Settings" dialog box, choose the "Configure.." button.
         The "Input Ethernet ID" dialog box appears and input adapter's
         Ethernet ID. The last step is select "OK" and close "Networking" SETUP.
         Select "SKIP" if only one adapter is installed on this computer.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
