Wicked3D featuring Voodoo2 Display Utilities Version 2.0 Beta:
=============================================================

Wicked3D featuring Voodoo2: WickedVision and Re2Flex Controls
-------------------------------------------------------------
The Wicked3D Advanced display properties sheet includes controls
and utilities to operate the advanced exclusive features of the
Wicked3D featuring Voodoo2. You can use these controls to fully
customize your gaming environment and make the most of your hardware.

Re2Flex
-------
Re2Flex gives you complete control over your gaming resolutions and
refresh rates in compatible Direct3D, QuakeGL, and Glide titles.
Note: Not all Direct3D titles allow for custom resolutions and refresh
rates. The Re2Flex section of the Metabyte Wicked3D Display Properties
Tab allows you to adjust your gaming environment.

Refresh Rates and Resolutions:
------------------------------
Resolution
Use the Resolution slider bar to select the desired resolution for your
QuakeGL or Glide game. For D3D games, selecting a resolution using the
Resolution slider bar will enable this resolution in compatible games.
You can select this new resolution when running the game.
Note: For QuakeGL and Glide games, the resolution set using the resolution
slider bar will override the game's built-in resolution selection. The
game's built-in resolution controls can be used to adjust the size of
text in the game. To use the game's built-in controls to change actual
display resolution instead, select the "Use mode selection in game" radio
button in the Settings tab in the OpenGL configuration screen and the
Wrapper tab in the Glide configuration screens.

Refresh Rate
Use the Refresh Rate slider bar to select the desired refresh rate for your
Glide, QuakeGL, or Direct3D game. Note: The refresh capabilities on various
monitors differ greatly. Please choose a lower refresh rate initially and
increase the refresh rate in small steps until the desired refresh rate is
reached.

Add Resolution - Custom Resolution Control Center
Warning: Different monitors have different mode capabilities. Use the Test
Mode button to test custom modes before using in actual games. The Add
Resolution button brings up the Custom Resolution Control Center which
allows you to add customized 3D gaming resolutions to take full advantage
of your hardware. For example, with a single Wicked3D featuring Voodoo2,
you can select up to 1024x672. With 2 Wicked3D's, you can select up to
1024x1024. The screen includes a list of all the available modes, both
standard and custom. You can use this window to select or delete modes.
To select a desired mode, click to highlight a mode and click OK. To delete
a mode, click to highlight a mode and click the Delete button. The custom
mode will be removed from the registry. Use the arrow buttons to select your
desired resolution for Width and Height, then click on the Add button to add
this resolution to the resolution list. Click OK to go to the Wicked3D Control
Panel and click on the Test Mode button to verify that the new mode will work
with your hardware. Note: You can have a total of 14 modes, including the
standard modes.

Note: You may also change resolutions by clicking on the lower right corner
of the Wicked3D graphic image and resizing the graphic while holding down
the mouse button. Release the button and click on Add Resolution to set
the desired resolution. Again, click on Test Mode button on the Wicked3D
Control Panel to verify that your hardware is compatible with the new
resolution.

Advanced Resolution Options
Note: These options are only available on single Wicked3D and are for
troubleshooting only. Scanline Doubling - Check Scanline Doubling to double
the number of scanlines. This is useful for running lower resolution (below
640x480) with monitors that cannot run at low refresh rates.

Interlaced - Check the Interlaced box if your monitor cannot support a desired
high resolution.

Test Screen
Use the Test Screen button to test any new modes that you have selected. Your
system will switch to the selected mode, allowing you to verify and properly
configure the mode. Using the arrow keys, you can move the display image left,
right, up, and down to center the image. Holding down the shift key and pressing
the arrow keys will allow you to change the height and width of the display
image. Use these combinations to center the image and size it properly for your
monitor. Pressing the Z key will reset the image to default. Pressing Enter will
save the desired setting. Pressing Esc will exit the Test Screen utility.

WickedVision
WickedVision is Metabyte's driver-level implementation of stereo rendering.
Using the proper stereo LCD shutter glasses, WickedVision will provide you with
the most immersive gaming experience available!

WickedVision is currently working with the Stereo glasses produced by H3D. Consult
H3D documentation for information on installing the glasses.

Properties
==========
Direct3D:
Settings Tab -
* Enable Anti-Aliasing - anti-aliasing reduces the "jaggies" in certain game
polygons, thereby providing cleaner visuals. Anti-aliasing is enabled by
default. Disable anti-aliasing if you experience problems with certain games.
* Force trilinear texture filtering - Use this checkbox to force the Wicked3D
featuring Voodoo2 to render using trilinear filtering for D3D apps that use
mipmapping and bilinear filtering, providing smoother visuals.
* Don't sync buffer swaps to monitor refresh rate - Use this checkbox to let
games run as fast as they can, ignoring the limit imposed by the monitor's
refresh rate.

Stereo Tab -
* Stereo Enabled/Disabled - use these radio buttons to select whether or not
to enable stereo support. Enable stereo support only if you have the appropriate
LCD stereo eyewear.
The following items are advanced settings that do not need to be changed under
normal circumstances.
* Zero stereo separation distance
* 2D objects detection
* Ignore partial clear

Glide:
Glide Tab -
* Force mipmap dithering - turns on mipmapping dithering for Glide apps. Can
result in higher visual quality.
* Limit texture memory to 2MB - Use this checkbox if you experience problems
with certain older Glide games
* Force triple color buffering - Enables triple buffering for Glide
applications. This can result in a frame rate increase, however some games
that expect only double buffering can experience graphics flashing.
* Don't sync buffer swaps to monitor refresh rate - Use this checkbox to let
games run as fast as they can, ignoring the limit imposed by the monitor's
refresh rate.

Wrapper Tab -
* Video Mode Selection - With Re2Flex, you can override a game's built-in
resolution controls, allowing you to run in custom resolutions up to
1024x1024. To enable this feature, select the Force selected video mode
radio button and select the desired resolution using the Video Mode slider
bar. To use the game's built-in resolution controls, select the Use mode
selection in game radio button. Note: In order to select a custom resolution,
you must have added the custom resolution in the Custom Resolution Control
Center.
* Original Glide Options - This section allows you to enable Re2Flex and
WickedVision in Glide games. Choose the Use Glide Wrapper for Glide Games
radio button to enable these features. To disable these features, select Use
Original Glide.

Stereo Tab -
* Stereo Enabled/Disabled - use these radio buttons to select whether or not to
enable stereo support. Enable stereo support only if you have the appropriate
LCD stereo eyewear.
The following are advanced settings that do not need to be changed under normal
circumstances.
* Zero stereo separation distance
* Depth gap correction
* Gap start
* Correction
* Reduced stereo separation
* 2D objects detection

OpenGL:
Note: Games running in QuakeGL in stereo will be running under a Direct3D
wrapper. Because multitexturing is not supported in DirectX 5, there is a
substantial performance hit associated with stereo as well as Re2Flex. Because
of this, it is recommended that you use the normal "3dfx OpenGL" settings if
you do not want to enable stereo. However, the benefits include Anti-aliasing
and trilinear filtering in QuakeGL games, in addition to the stereo and higher
resolution.

Settings Tab -
* Video Mode Selection - With Re2Flex, you can override a game's built-in
resolution controls, allowing you to run in custom resolutions up to 1024x1024.
To enable this feature, select the Force selected video mode radio button and
select the desired resolution using the Video Mode slider bar. To use the game's
built-in resolution controls, select the Use mode selection in game radio button.
Note: In order to select a custom resolution, you must have added the custom
resolution in the Custom Resolution Control Center.
* Additional Gamma Correction - Settings for software gamma correction. Use to
change the brightness of games.

GL Effects Tab -
* More Gamma Correction - Use this slider bar to change the brightness for
objects in a game.
* Animate
* Step - Animate gamma correction for objects to make the "pulse"
* Frequency - Frequency of the animated gamma correction.

Crosshair -
A stereo-correct crosshair as well as a dynamic laser sight has been
implemented to provide a unique experience in GL-based first person shooters.
Note: these only work when our wrapper is running. To enable and customize
these options:
* Image - Choose Off for use the game's built-in targeting device. Select
Cross for a stereo-correct crosshair or Laser for a dynamic laser sight
targeting device.
* Size - Selects the size of the crosshair or laser sight. Values larger
than 100 specify a 3D crosshair that changes its size depending on the
distance to the objects being targeted.
* Target Highlight - Additional gamma correction for objects being
targetd by the crosshair.
* Shift X - Use to correct aiming for non-centered gun in first-person
shooter type games.
* Shift Y - Use to correct aiming for non-centered gun in first-person
shooter type games.

WickedVision
WickedVision Settings -
* Video Mode - Use this slider bar to select the mode that you want
to test in stereo. If you want to try custom modes, you must first
add the custom mode using the Custom Resolution Control Center. Note:
Selecting a resolution using this slider bar will not select the actual
resolution for the game. The game resolution is controlled by the
Re2Flex slider bar (QuakeGL and Glide) and selected within the game in
D3D.
* Monitor Size - Move the slider bar to set the size of your monitor.
This setting determines the pixel separation between the left and right
eye images. (You can use the dynamic adjustments to fine-tune the settings
during gameplay.)
* Reduced Stereo Separation - Given the selected monitor size, 100% stereo
separation will give the most accurate, ideal stereo image. However, you
may find that 100% separation is too much for you eyes, causing you to see
double. Use the Reduced Stereo Separation slider bar to reduce the
separation to a level that is comfortable to your eyes.
* Stereo Test - Use the stereo test screen to fine tune your stereo and
screen settings. The current mode is displayed on the lower right hand
corner of the screen. Use the U and I keys to adjust the vertical separation
so that the text is readable. Use the O and P keys to adjust the stereo
separation to suit your preference. The wider the stereo separation, the
more depth you will see. However, if you see "double", reduce the separation
to a comfortable amount for your eyes. Use the arrow keys to adjust the
position of the screen. Hold down shift and press the arrow keys to change
the size of the screen. Press Enter or Z to save these screen settings. The
vertical separation and stereo separation values are saved when you exit the
Stereo Test. Press R to reset the stereo hardware, in case you see separate
top and bottom images. Press T to bring up the Depth Perception Test. You
should see a row of 5 stars, each progressively "deeper" into the monitor
from left to right. Press Shift-T to see the Eyes Test to verify that you
can indeed see stereo images. If you can see a square within the middle left
side of the larger square, you can see stereo images correctly. There are
various reasons why you would not be able to see the square, however, it is
best to consult a physician. Press Shift-T again to exit the Eyes Test. Press
Y to toggle stereo On/Off and Esc to exit the Stereo Test screen.

Keyboard Controls -
	The Keyboard Controls tab allows you to define "hot keys" that will allow
you to adjust and reset stereo separation within a game. Select a function that
you want to define a key for and enter the key in the box on the right. Note that
you can enter a combination of keys using "Alt", "Ctrl", and/or "Shift". Hold
down the modifier key(s) and press the key to be defined. This gives you the
ability to configure key combinations that aren't in use by the game itself.
* Reset Stereo - Use this function to reset stereo separation if your monitor
stops producing a stereo image (by switching to another windows application,
for example).
* Less/More Stereo Separation - Use these functions to dynamically
reduce/increase the stereo separation within the game.
* Less/More Vertical Separation - Use these functions to reduce/increase
the vertical separation between the images. The easiest way to correct
vertical separation is to align text on the screen so that there is no
vertical separation.
* Toggle Stereo - Use this to toggle stereo on/off within a game. You can
use this function to switch back and forth between stereo and non-stereo to
view items that are illegible in stereo. Works only with Direct3D games.
* Toggle Separation - Use this function to toggle the stereo separation between
none and the amount that you have set. This is useful if the game has small text
that is illegible in stereo.

Advanced
Clock Speed - Use the clock speed slider bar to set the speed of your Wicked3D
featuring Voodoo2. The default clock speed is 92MHz. Raise or lower this clock
setting depending on the tolerance of your system and the game.

Disable SLI - Click this checkbox to disable SLI (two card configuration) if a
game is having problems with SLI mode.

Enhance Desktop - This checkbox allows you to add a cool background to your
desktop.

Gamma Correction -
The gamma correction slider bars allow you to adjust the gamma settings in Glide
and D3D games.
