You can play DOS game under Windows95 with this new opl4 driver & SB emulation driver.
2.0 ATTENTION
Make sure that you have already installed SW20 under Windows95.
And it works well.
This installation needs making changes of SYSTEM.INI,CONFIG.SYSY & AUTOEXEC.BAT
We recommend you made backup copies of CONFIG.SYSY,SYSTEM.INI & AUTOEXEC.BAT
before making changes in them.
We do not take care of the custom support of this installation .
We have checked this installation with IBM PC750 P100MHz
This driver helps DOS game user to play DOS game under Windows95 DOS BOX.
Good point by this installation
You can play DOS GAME with the SB compatible Sound FX under Windows 95 DOS BOX.
You can play DOS GAME with the SB compatible FM music under Windows 95 DOS BOX.
You can play DOS GAME with the MPU401 compatible General MIDI under Windows 95 DOS BOX.
With the JOYSTICK,you can play the GAME (DOS or Windows95) which support the JOYSTICK .
But after installation, some SW20 application and features do not work.
EffectEdit, EffectGear & VoiceMorph does not work with SB emulation driver.
-->You need to cancel SB emulation driver from the device manager,when you use
EffectEdit, EffectGear, VoiceMorph.
1.Open CONTROL PANELS'SYSTEM applet
2.Select SOUND VIDEO CONTROLER
3.Clear check box of Windows SoundSystem SoundBlaster Emulation
The external MIDI I/O does work after this installation.It means you cannot
use the external MIDI device.
-->You need to install current driver again,if you want to use the external MIDI
device.
The DOS game with new OPL4 driver under Windows95 DOS BOX.
When you play DOS game with General MIDI,please set the setup of the game
as follows;
MIDI :MPU401 or General MIDI

Have you already installed SW20 under Windows95?
If not,please install SW20 in your PC.
A. Make changes of SYSTEM.INI for the setting of SW20
1) Run NotePad from the accessories of programs in Start Button.
Please make backup copies of CONFIG.SYS,SYSTEM.INI & AUTOEXEC.BAT.
2) Open SYSTEM.INI file which is in c:\windows
3) Remove the following command lines as follows;
device=vmad16.386
device=vm16midi.386
midixx=mad16c.drv
wave=mad16c.drv
aux=mad16c.drv
mixer=mad16c.drv
midixx=opldld.drv
Save this change.
B. Make changes of CONFIG.SYS for the setting of SW20
4)Open CONFIG.SYS file which is in Root directory, and remove the following line.
DEVICE=C:\YAMAHA\OPL4TSR.SYS
Save this change
C. Make changes of AUTOEXEC.BAT for the setting of SW20
5)Open AUTOEXEC.BAT file which is in ROot Directory, and remove the following line.
CALL C:\YAMAHA\YMHINI.BAT C:\YAMAHA
Save this change
D. Remove some SW20 drivers
6)Restart the computer in MS-DOS MODE
Select Shut Down from Start Button , open Shut Down Windows.
Select "Restart the computer in MS-DOS MODE" and click YES Button.
7)Please type the following commands
> CD \WINDOWS\SYSTEM
> DEL VMAD16.386
> DEL VM16MIDI.386
> DEL M16MIDI.DRV
> DEL VMAD16C.DRV
> CD\c:\YAMAHA\MAD16
> M16INIT
E. Setting of the WSS mode
8)Select the CONFIGURATION SETUP WINDOW
Select "Configuration", then press <Enter>
9)Set the WSS setting using CURSOR & TUB keys
MODE :{ }SB {*}WSS
Port :{*} 530 HEX
IRQ :{*} 10
DMA :{*} 1
Game Port :{*} Enable
Input Source :{*} MIC
After finsh the setting, move the cursor to "OK",then
press <Enter> or <SPACE BAR>
10)Select "Sound Test", then confirm the sounds.
F. Installation of WSS driver
11)Restart WIndows95 with Ctrl+ALt+Delete
12)Installation of WSS driver
Double Click "Add New Hardware" from CONTROL PANEL.
Click Next>
Select NO
Click Next>
Select "Sound,video & game controllers" from Hardware types,
then click Next>
Select Microsoft from Manufactures and MS Windows Sound System Compatible
from Models
Double Click MS Windows Sound System Compatible
Insert Windows System Disk (FD version No8 Disk),then start to install
drivers.
13)The setting of WSS resorces
Double Click "System" from CONTROL PANEL.
Select Device Manager
Select MS Windows Sound System Compatible,then double click.
Select resources
Click Change Settings button and set the same settings as 9)
In this case
Port : 530 -537
IRQ : 10
DMA : 1
After setting ,click OK
14)Restart Windows 95 and confirm the setting of WSS with playback WAV files .
If you hear sounds,you success in installing WSS driver which includes
SB emulation driver.
G. Installation of OPL4 driver
15)The install of OPL4 driver
Double Click "Add New Hardware" from CONTROL PANEL.
Click Next>
Select NO
Click Next>
Select "Sound,video & game controllers" from Hardware types,then click Next>
Select Have a Disk,then install From Disk box appears.
Please type the directory where you have downloaded files.
After you confirm YAMAHA OPL4 MIDI Driver in model,click OK
New OPL4 driver will load automatically.
16)Reboot the PC
17)Confirmation of MIDI driver setting
Play MIDI file with Media Player.
If you can hear sound , you success in installing new OPL4 driver.
H. Installation of Joystick driver
18)The install of JoyStick Driver
Connect a joystick with SW20 MIDI/JOYSTICK connctor.
Double Click "Add New Hardware" from CONTROL PANEL.
Click Next>
Select NO
Click Next>
Select "Sound,video & game controllers" from Hardware types,then click Next>
Select Microsoft from Manufacures,then select GAME Port JoyStick
Install a joystick driver according to the following menu.
After you finish all installation ,you can play your DOS game under
Windows95 DOS BOX.
