This file covers the installation procedures for the following networks:

    IBM LAN Server
    IBM LAN Support Program

*   IBM LAN Server (Version 3.0)

1. Run the DXMAID installer from the IBM LAN Support diskette.

2. Use the defaults from the first menu.

3. The second menu prompts you to enter the drive and path for the import
   diskette.

4. Remove the LAN Support diskette, put the Ethernet Driver Disk in the
   drive, and type

       A:\NDIS

5. Place the LAN Support diskette back in the drive, and continue the
   installation.

6.  Use a text editor to add the following lines in your CONFIG.SYS
    file:

	      device=c:\path\eigersc.exe /I=x /C=nn /M=mm /S=x 
		(refer to readme.txt for more information)

    before NE2NDIS.DOS.

1. Run the DXMAID installer from the IBM LAN Support diskette.

2. Specify the Ethernet adapter installation from the menu.

3.  Copy the EIGERSC.EXE and NE2NDIS.DOS from the Eiger Labs Driver Disk.

4.  Using a text editor to replace the following lines in your CONFIG.SYS
    file:

	DEVICE = \XX.DOS

    with:

	DEVICE = \EIGERSC.EXE
	DEVICE = \NE2NDIS.DOS

5.  Using a text editor to edit the PROTOCOL.INI file as follows:

	[GCS2000_NIF]
	    drivername = NE2000$
	    iobase=0x300
	    interrupt=3

	[ETHERNET]
	    DriverName = DXME0$
	    Bindings = GCS2000_NIF

*   IBM Local Area Network Support Program (Version 1.2+)
******************************************************************************

1.  Install the IBM Local Area Network Support Program according to the
    instructions in the User's Guide.

2.  Copy the EIGERSC.EXE and NE2NDIS.DOS from the Eiger Labs Driver Disk.

3.  Using a text editor to replace the following lines in your CONFIG.SYS
    file:

	DEVICE = \XX.DOS

    with:

	DEVICE = \EIGERSC.EXE
	DEVICE = \NE2NDIS.DOS

4.  Using a text editor to edit the PROTOCOL.INI file as follows:

	[GCS2000_NIF]
	    drivername = NE2000$

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
