Instructions for the PC Card NT 4.0 Driver Installation

1. Carefully insert your PC Card into the your portable computer
   PCMCIA slot.
2. Attached and power on all SCSI device(s).
3. Insert the Driver Installation diskette into drive A.
4. Click on the icons: My Computer --> Control Panel -
   -> SCSI Adapter.
5. At the SCSI Adapter window, select the Driver tab, then click
   on the Add button.
6. When prompted, click the Have Disk button.
7. At the install window, click OK.
8. To install the driver, highlight the "PCMCIA Bus Toaster SCSI
   Host Adapter NT driver" and click OK.
9. At the Systems Setting Change window click OK to restart your
   system.
10. To verify the drivers were installed properly click on the
   icons: My Computer --> Control Panel --> SCSI Adapter.
   Highlight and click on the "PCMCIA Bus Toaster SCSI Host
   Adapter NT driver".  If the attached SCSI device(s) are
   found, the installation process is complete.  If no SCSI
   device(s) are found, proceed to the next section.


IRQ Selection

With a PC Card, your computer has a finite number of interrupts
available to support your SCSI devices.  The Bus Toaster PC Card
IRQ default is 5.  If an IRQ conflict occurs, try reinstalling
an available IRQ.  Files are provided for IRQ5,IRQ9,IRQ10,IRQ11,
and IRQ15.  It is recommended that you try reinstalling the
IRQ11 first.  If that selection does not work, try
reinstalling IRQ9, then IRQ10, and lastly IRQ15.  To reinstall
the drivers, please follow the steps listed below.

1. Insert the Driver Installation diskette into drive A.
2. Click on the icons: My Computer --> Drive A.
3. Copy the pbt460nt.inf file on in the IRQ11 folder to the root
   replacing the pbt460nt.inf.
4. Click on the icons: My Computer --> Control Panel -
   -> SCSI Adapter.
5. At the SCSI Adapter window, select the Driver tab, the
   click on the Remove button.
6. To remove the driver, highlight the "PCMCIA Bus Toaster
   SCSI Host Adapter NT driver" and click OK.
7. Now that the drivers have been removed, you can proceed
   to reinstalling the drivers by following the Driver
   installation process.
8. Click on the icons: My Computer --> Control Panel -
   -> SCSI Adapter.
9. At the SCSI Adapter window, select the Driver tab,
    then click on the Add button.
10. When prompted, click the Have Disk button.
11. At the install window, click OK.
12. To install the driver, highlight the "PCMCIA Bus
    Toaster SCSI Host Adapter NT driver" and click OK.
13. At the Systems Setting Change window click OK to
    restart your system.
14. To verify the drivers were installed properly
    click on the icons: My Computer --> Control Panel
    --> SCSI Adapter.  Highlight and click on the
    "PCMCIA Bus Toaster SCSI Host Adapter NT driver".
    If the attached SCSI device(s) are found, the
    installation process is complete.  Again, if no
    SCSI device(s) are found you need to go back to
    step 1 in this section and try another IRQ.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
