The Compaq Advanced Network Controller Utility will be installed
automatically into your Control Panel during the driver
installation. The utility launches during installation on Compaq
systems or systems with multiple controllers or ports supported
by the NETFLX3 driver.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Installing the Driver on Windows NT 4.x

Before installing, make sure that Windows NT is correctly
installed on the system. Make a copy of the Compaq controller
diskette; store the original and install from the copy.

TIP: Your controller driver ships with the Compaq Advanced
Network Controller Utility, which will be installed into
your Control Panel. This utility will help you configure,
monitor, and manage your Compaq controllers. After
installation, look for a new Control Panel named Compaq Net.

Installing the driver:

1. Select Start> Settings> Control Panel and double-click
     Network.

2. On the Network dialog, click the Adapters tab.

3. The Network Adapters list displays all currently installed
controllers. To add a controller that does not appear in
the list, click Add and click Have Disk.

4. When prompted for the driver location, insert the controller
diskette, enter the path to the \NT directory (A:\NDISx), and
press <Enter> or click OK. For an Add request, you are
prompted to select and install a listed driver: double-click
your Compaq Netelligent controller (or select it and click
     OK).

NOTE: If you have a Compaq system and multiple Compaq
controllers or ports, the Compaq Advanced Network Control
Utility appears instead of the standard dialog. For each
controller you wish to install, select the new controller
(it will appear grayed out) and click Install.

5. The controller now appears in the Network Adapters list. To
configure the controller, double-click your Compaq
Netelligent controller in the list (or select it and click
     Properties).

The Compaq Advanced Network Control Utility appears instead
of the standard Properties dialog. Double-click the icon for
your controller (or select it and click Properties). A
question mark on the icon indicates that the controller is
installed but does not have its driver loaded yet (it will
load when you restart). Click the Help button on the dialog
     for more information.

6. Make selections for the Duplex Setting, Network Address, and
Media Connector if you want to change from the default
     settings; otherwise, click Close.

     - Duplex Setting enables full-duplex operation (when
connected to a full-duplex capable and enabled hub). If
you do not change this parameter, it defaults to half
          duplex.

     - Network Address is a 12-character hexadecimal number in
the range of locally-administered node IDs. Use this
parameter only if you need to override the network
address of the controller. The least significant bit of
the first byte must be zero, and the second significant
          bit should be one.

     - Media Connector lets you to select UTP or AUTO. AUTO
allows use of either an RJ-45 or a BNC connector. If
you are using a BNC connector, you must choose AUTO.

7. On the Network dialog, return to step 3 to add additional
controllers or ports; otherwise, click Close.

8. For new installations, binding configuration and storing
occurs, and the Microsoft TCP/IP Properties dialog may
prompt you for settings. Follow the prompts to complete the
     installation.

9. Restart the machine to put the changes into effect.
