7) Driver installation:

 a) Windows XP

    Please go to "Windows Update" (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com) to Install 
    Microsoft USB 2.0 Host Controller Driver.

 b) Windows 2000

    Please go to "Windows Update" (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com) to Install 
    Microsoft USB 2.0 Host Controller Driver.

 c) Windows Me/98
  
    Setup will install VIA USB 2.0 Host Controller Driver.

    ** Driver Installation **

      Click the SETUP.EXE program and select "Install" button then it will install 
    the "VIA USB 2.0 Host Controller Driver" automatically on your Windows Me/98 
    system. It will copy the driver to the system folder and set the related registry 
    tree.

    ** Driver Uninstallation **
    ***************************
    
      You  could remove the "VIA USB 2.0 Host Controller Driver" by selecting the 
    "Uninstall" button. It will completely remove the driver from the sytsem.

8) Known Issues/Limitations:

        a) This package is for English user ONLY. There is a Multilingual edition 
           for non-English user.
           
        b) VIA USB 2.0 Host Controller Driver - 
           Limitation:
            1. Only USB wakeup from S3 (by mouse or keyboard) is supported. Of course, 
               your system BIOS should support/enable this function First.
           Issues:
            2. If some specific USB devices are plugged in, you may NOT Hibernate or
               Shutdown the system. 
            3. If you connect a USB 2.0 hub to the root hub and continue to plug some 
               USB devices into this hub. The system would be hung with some specific
               USB devices or these USB devices might not be recognized.

Version 2.42L (2002/07/04):
    Modify VIA USB driver INF file to pass Signability Test.
    
    SETUP.exe will bring you to Windows Update to download Microsoft driver in 
    Windows XP/2000.

Version 2.41L (2002/06/28):
    Microsoft Driver for Windows 2000 is available from Windows Update.

    Update VIA USB 2.0 Host Controller Driver to support BOTH VT6202 and *VT8235*.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
