sure you have all the files mentioned above!

------------------------------------------------------------------------

3. Installation

3.1 Installing ELSA graphics board for Windows 98

Remove your "old" VGA and put the ELSA graphics board into your
        computer.

On startup Windows 98 detects the ELSA graphics board as
"PCI early VGA Device" or a "PCI standard VGA adapter" and
prompts for a manufacturer disk. Advanced users can now install
as described in 3.3, Microsoft WHQL confirm way to install.
If you prefer an easier way to install the driver or the driver
is downloaded as selfextracting *.EXE file from the web you
should first confirm Windows request to install a "PCI Standard
VGA adapter". After rebooting your system you can start the
selfextracting *.EXE file or install it by driver CD.

3.1 Installation from driver CD

During a running Windows 98 session insert the driver CD
into your CD-ROM. Normally after the CD is read, a setup is
started and guides you through the installation. In case
'Auto Insert Notification' is disabled in your system, the setup
has to be started manually by double clicking its icon in the
root of CD. Now you can choose the components to be installed.
After rebooting the system your monitor is recognized and
installed. A resolution and color depth can be chosen now.

3.2 Installing downloaded driver packages

Driver packages from the web are self-extracting EXE files.
These files are temporary copied to e.g. c:\elsainst directory
and an automatic driver setup is started. Tools are installed
automatically, too. After finishing or canceling the setup, the
extracted installation files are deleted, including the
        temporary created folder.

3.3 Microsoft WHQL confirm way to install

After Windows recognized the ELSA graphics adapter choose
'Have Disk...'. If you are updating the driver manually, select
'change...' in the advanced settings of the diplay properties.
Now browse through the ELSA CD and select the proper display
        driver subdirectory (e.g. D:\WIN9X).Windows
will copy the driver files and prompt you to reboot the
computer. After restarting, Windows is running with the ELSA
display drivers active. If your ELSA graphics adapter is not the
primary display adapter in Windows 98, you have to activate the
hardware by clicking on the connected monitor bitmap in the global
        windows display settings.

3.4 Installation extension

The drivers installation routine will additionally create the
"ELSA Settings", "ELSA Driver Settings" property pages and
        installs an OpenGL ICD.
The drivers setup included in self-extracting driver packages
or the driver CD will install additional tools like "ELSA
WINman Suite" and "ELSA Info". In case your graphics adapter
is provided with video I/O capabilities, the setup will install
the software components for these devices, too.

In all following Windows sessions you can change the resolution
        without rebooting your system.

3.5 Installing the video capabilities
(optional, this depends on the used hardware)

In the DRVTOOLS folder you will find three versions of *.inf
files. At least one of these files has to be installed manually
depending on the used hardware and/ or operating system.

In this case please mark the recommended *.inf file, click the
right mousekey and select "Install" at the context sensitive
        menue.

After installing and restaring the system the advanced features
will be installed and activated for your system.

        - ELSATOOL.INF WINman Suite and ELSA Info is for all ELSA
                        display hardware

        - VIDEOIO.INF only usable for hardware with video In/Out
                        capabilities.

        - EVIDCTRL.INF ELSA-VideoControl, - only for Windows 98 and
ERAZOR III with video. (WDM-driver necessary!)

5. Release notes

5.1 DirectDraw/Direct3D support

The display driver supports DirectDraw/Direct3D from
DirectX7, but to use it in an application, you must install
        DirectDraw/Direct3D. The Microsoft DirectDraw/Direct3D
components are not included in the standard retail version
        of Windows 98.

To install DirectDraw/Direct3D use your driver CD or download
this operating system extension from the Microsoft webside.

5.2 AGP support under Windows 98

If your mainboard has no Intel chipset it may be necessary to
install a chipset specific software patch to get best support
and performance using the AGP port.
Normally this patch should be delivered on CD with your system
or mainboard. Otherwise you may get the newest patches on the
        internetsites of the chipset vendors.
Other chipset vendors are, e.g.: VIA, ALI.

        http://www.via.com.tw/
        http://www.ali.com.tw/

If you have any questions about full AGP support on non Intel
        mainboards please consult your distributor.

5.3 Free defineable refreshrates (monitor timings)

It is necessary to install and use the specified INF - file
delivered with your monitor. For information about to install
please look above or use your windows documentation.

6. Known Bugs and Operating Notes

This section documents known anomalies or problems and gives
        hints on work arounds.

        - if there are flashing effects visible while playing 3D games
with "3D Stereo" feature enabled, please make sure that the
checkbox "poll with interrupts enabled" under:

Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Game Controllers
          -> Advanced

          is enabled.

        - if using the "no wait for vsync" option under "ELSA Driver
Settings" 3D Revelator stereo support won´t work.

        - if using this graphics board with Windows9x on mainboards with
VIA chipsets (MVP3, Apollo, a.s.o.) it is strongly necessary
to install the VIA AGP driver patch "VIAGARTD.VXD" version 3.3
or newer. You can download this patch at:

          or ask your system distributor.

        - Task switching while 3D applications are active leads to
corruption of textures in some cases

        - The DirectDraw resolution 480x360 works with too low frequency
for most monitors. Please take a look at 5.3.

        - OpenGL screen savers oftenly crashes if an additional suspend
mode is executed by the system or manually.

        - Switching VESA modes to windowed mode (normaly an error
pops up) leads to system crash

        - Windows suspend during active 3D applications may cause system
          crashes in Windows 95

        - For best display quality, in the "ELSA Driver Settings" Texel
Alignment should be set to "upper left corner".

        - Mouse trails are not displayed, because the NVIDIA chip
accelerates this Windows functionality in hardware
