SiS PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter Installation for Windows 2000 Driver ========================================== driver file: .\sisnic.sys INF file: .\netoem.inf Install The Driver ------------------ 1. Install the card in the PCI slot and connect the cable to the network; turn on the computer and start Windows 2000. 2. When Windows 2000 starts, a "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog box appears identifying the card as a "Ethernet Controller"; Select "Search for a suitable driver for your device [Recommended]". NOTE, if the "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog box does not appear, Windows 2000 fails to detect your adapter. There may be problem with the adapter itself or with the system BIOS. 3. Click Next then enable the "Specify a location" check box; specify the correct path in which SiS 900 PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter driver for Windows 2000 resides. 4. Click Next then Windows ME identifies the card as "SiS 900 PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter" 5. Click Next to let Windows 2000 finishes the driver installation. Adapter Configuration --------------------- 1. Double click "My Computer". 2. Double click "Control Panel". 3. Double click "System" icon. 4. Click "Hardware" tab then click "Device Manager..." 5. Open "Network Adapters" icon. 6. Double click "SiS 900 PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter" then a properties page appears. 5. Click "Advanced" tab. 6. Here, you can set the following properties: <1>. EthernetMediaType 100BaseTX 100BaseTX Full_Duplex 10BaseT Full_Duplex 10BaseT AUTO_CONFIG ;Default value if not set <2>. NetworkAddress Override the adapter's Ethernet address. Legal values are xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx, where xx is a hexadecimal byte value. Unless necessary, do NOT modify this field and let the system use the default Ethernet address contained in the serial ROM on the adapter. PhysicalLayer AUTO LAN HOME Note: 1). When user select LAN or HOME item, the driver will force the connector to coresponding media (LAN or HOME). 2). After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
