This update loads BIOS version: 1.10 2/12/99

Before proceeding with the BIOS Update, use the following steps
to create a system bootable disk:

(1). Open My Computer
(2). Locate the 3 1/2 Floppy (A:) drive.
(3). Using the "Right" mouse button, click once.
(4). Using the "Left" mouse button, select FORMAT.
(5). Select "Copy System Files Only" and press START.
(6). Run this patch program to unzip the update onto this floppy.

Description:
------------
This update creates a BIOS Flash Utility Floppy for the following
Pavilion Models:

6305, 6305H, 6306, 6308, 6308H, 6325, 6325H, 6329,
6329H, 6330, 6331, 6333, 6336, 6340 (UK and France),
6343, 6345, 6350 (UK, France & North America), 6351,
6355 (UK), 6356, 6357 (North America),6360 (North America)


Installation Method:
--------------------
1. Restart the computer with this floppy disk in the A: drive.
2. Press Y at the prompt to proceed with the installation.
3. When a message box appears indicating the Flash Memory has
   been successfully programmed, remove the disk from the A: drive
   and restart the computer.
4. During the boot process, the following message will be displayed:

     0251: System CMOS checksum bad - Default configuration used
     Press <F1> to Setup, <F2> to Resume

5. Press F1 to enter SETUP
6. Press F5 to reset BIOS defaults.
7. Press F10 to exit SETUP saving your changes.
8. Press ENTER to confirm the save.

1.05: Fixed "System Board Extension for ACPI BIOS" Device conflict
      under ACPI.

      Notes:

      1. New Video BIOS v1.07d from SIS is included.
      2. On ACPI system, HCT Unreported Memory test reports ranges
         of conventional (between 0000 - 9ffff) and extended memory
         (between 100000 - maximum memory size) as being in use.
         Per WHQL System Testing Help, they are allowable when
         running Win98 ACPI.
1.06:1. Added Cyrix CPU M1/M2 support
     2. Added AMD K6 - 2 support
     3. Added Setup node to configure Removable format to select either
        Fixed or Removable for Removable devices.
     4. AMD CPU Write Allocation enabled (*** Still working to fully
        support Model 8 processor ***)
     5. Fixed the [OS Controlled] Setup option displays as a user
        selectable configuration option for LPT or COM ports.
        Only under Windows 98 APM/PnP mode, if the I/O device is disabled
        by OS, the [OS Controlled] option will be displayed in Setup.
     6. Fixed screen artifact while "Entering Setup" is displayed in POST
        when a foreign language is selected and HP Logo screen is displayed.
     7. Fixed LPT and COM Port Remove/Redetection issue under ACPI mode.
        Device was not re-configured if it was Removed and Refreshed.
     8. Fixed LPT at I/O address 3BC caused conflicts with VGA device
        under ACPI mode.
     9. New Video BIOS v1.10c from SIS is included.

1.07:1. Removed blank line between Memory and Core version display under
        Main menu in Setup 
     2. Fixed EMM386.EXE RAM error with DOS games.
     3. Fixed system hang problem with ATAPI devices includes CD-ROM 
        device on Primary Master channel.
     4. Updated default DMI Product name string to ensure default language 
        as English. To be effective for the change, DMI information should 
        be updated by using Phlash option.

1.08:1. Fixed EMM386.EXE RAM error with DOS games.  The fix in the previous 
        release was not sufficient. 
     2. Fixed Windows98 bootup problem when HDD has multiple partitions.
     3. Fixed DDC issue by updating SiS VGA BIOS to v1.13.

     Notes:
     1. Changed default VGA Memory size to 4M from 2M per request.
     2. Platform.bin file was updated to support to enable flash BIOS when 
        system has less than 16M memory installed.

     Known Limitations:
     1. WindowsNT 5.0 would not install in ACPI mode.

1.09:1. Fixed problem under Windows 98 that system would not enter 
        Suspend mode.
     2. Fixed Microsoft HCT 8.1 Unreported I/O Test failure.
     3. Fixed Microsoft HCT 8.1 IDE test under Windows NT 4.0 failure.

1.10: -Adjusted video memory timing depending upon Memory loading in the system.
      -Changed PCI Configuration Register 87 bit 7 (CPU to PCI Bridge Synchronous 
       Mode) to Disable per request.
      -Updated SiS VGA BIOS to v1.13.50 to resolve issues with S50 monitor.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
