This file has been divided into the following five sections for easy
reference:
1. WHAT'S NEW
2. HOW TO REPORT BUGS
3. IMPORTANT NOTES
4. KNOWN BUGS
5. COPYRIGHT NOTICE
1. WHAT'S NEW
-------------
1. This version was created to run on the Windows 95, 98, 2000, and NT
4.0 platforms.
2. In this version a Nextel Diagnostics program has been added.
2. HOW TO REPORT BUGS
---------------------
Call Nextel Customer Care at 1-800-639-6111 or dial 611 on your
Nextel phone. However, if you are having problems with your
Nextel plus series phone, whenever possible, call Customer Care from
another phone as you may be asked to go through steps to correct
the problem on your Nextel phone.
3. IMPORTANT NOTES
------------------
1. Before installing the software it is recommended that your phone be
set to "AUTO" for auto-baud detection (*#60).
2. Administrator access rights are required to install the
software in Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 2000.
3. If a modem is already installed on a COM port, Windows NT will not
install another modem on the same COM port. Instead, Windows NT
will ignore your port selection and automatically install the
modem on the next available port. Make sure you install the
"Motorola iDEN plus Series" modem on the available COM port.
4. After removing a modem in Windows 98, you will need to reboot the
computer so that the Windows registry is refreshed correctly.
This is a known Windows 98 issue.
5. Sometimes the Dial-Up Networking folder does not refresh
correctly and does not show a newly created Dial-Up Networking
connection. This is also a known issue with Windows.
Close and open the folder to refresh the list of connections.
6. In Windows 95 & 98, sometimes the "Dial-Up Adapter" may not be
present in the Control Panel "Network" applet. If you re-install
the Dial-Up Networking component of Windows, it will be
automatically installed.
7. Sometimes the "TCP/IP" protocol gets corrupted and requires that
you re-install it using the "Network" Control Panel applet. This
is also a known problem in Windows.
8. In Windows 98, if you start a connection using a Windows Dial-Up
networking connection directly, if the Nextel phone is NOT
physically attached to the computer, the COM port will remain open
(this will prevent the dialer program from connecting to the
network). This is a known bug in Windows 98. To fix it reboot
your system.
9. If you wish to use a baud rate higher than 19200, you will need to
set the new baud rate (for example 38400) in the phone and in the
Dial-Up Networking connection.
10. In Windows NT, you must follow the following sequence to remove
any Dial-Up Networking connection using the "Motorola iDEN
plus Series" modem. Otherwise, your system may become unstable
(Dial-Up Networking may report errors and you may see a blue
screen if the system crashes).
- Remove all connections that use 'Motorola iDEN plus Series'
modem from the Dial-Up Networking folder.
- Remove the "Motorola iDEN plus Series" modem from the Modem list.
- Remove the "Motorola iDEN plus Series" modem from the Remote
Access Manager. NOTE: If the modem you are removing is the only
modem in the list, you will need to add a modem definition and
put it in the list (for example "Standard 19200 bps Modem").
11. For Windows 95 systems, Dial-Up Networking version 1.3 or later
is required. You may obtain the upgrade via the Microsoft web
site.
12. If your computer has a network card, you will need to add at least
one DNS IP address to the "TCP/IP" protocol properties. In these
cases the DNS IPs obtained from Dial-Up Networking are ignored by
the TCP/IP Stack. In Windows 95/98 you can use the "winipcfg"
tool to check for the DNS Servers used by your TCP/IP stack.
13. If your computer has a "Motorola iDEN i1000plus" modem installed ,
please remove it before you install the new "Motorola iDEN plus
Series" modem driver.
14. The user password for a specific Dial-Up Networking entry can be
changed by directly accessing the entry in the Dial-Up Networking folder.
4. KNOWN BUGS
