SiS IDE Driver Installation For Windows ============================================= 01) Run INSTALL.EXE in the install utility diskette to install SiS IDE WINDOWS PIO mode driver or SiS IDE Windows DMA mode driver. 02) The INSTALL.EXE program will add the following lines in the [386Enh] section of SYSTEM.INI file in your windows directory : "device=siswindv.386" "device=int13.386" for PIO mode driver or "device=siswindv.386" "device=int13.386" "sis_master=on" for DMA mode driver. You can Uninstall the SiS IDE Windows driver by using the INSTALL.EXE program's uninstall function or directly adding a ';' or '*' symbol in front of the above lines between quotation marks. For example : "siswindv.386" change to ";device=siswindv.386" Also, you can run a PIO mode driver after installing a DMA mode driver by changing the setting "sis_master=on" into ";sis_master=on" or "sis_master=off" 03) After installing the IDE driver, you can turn on the 32-Bit Disk Access and 32-bit File Access (32-Bit File Access only available in WINDOWS FOR WORKGROUP) to improve performance To change disk access and file access : a) Enter WINDOWS and choose the "386 Enhance" icon from "Control Panel". b) Choose the "Virtual Memory" button. c) Choose the "Change" button. d) Change the appropriate settings. e) Choose the "OK" button. f) In the "Virtual Memory" dialog box, choose the "Yes" button. 04) It is a limitation that the hard disk can not work with CD-ROM on the same channel when 32-Bit File Access is on. You should either install the devices in different channels or turn the 32-Bit File Access off.Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
