EtherLink III Windows NT 3.5 Driver Installation Notes

EtherDisk 4.2 contains a Windows NT 3.5 driver developed and supported by
3Com. If you want to use the 3Com driver, you can do this two ways.

If you are installing Windows NT 3.5 for the first time, then do a normal
Windows NT 3.5 installation, including network support. Be sure you
specify the correct "EtherLink III" adapter when you configure the network
support.

After you have Windows NT 3.5 installed and working, you can update to the
3Com Windows NT 3.5 driver by either doing a manual copy of the NT 3.5
from the diskette to your system or using the installer on the EtherDisk.

To update the driver yourself, copy the driver from the EtherDisk to the
%windir%\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS subdirectory. Inside a DOS emulation screen
running under Windows NT 3.5, issue the following command:

COPY A:\NDIS\WINNT35\ELNK3.SYS %windir%\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS

To update using the 3Com installer, open a DOS emulation box, place the
EtherDisk in your floppy and change the default drive to the floppy. Then
enter:

INSTALL

If this is the first time you have run Install, then agree to the license
agreement menu by entering a "Y", then press enter to continue past the 1st
install informational screen. On the second screen, select "Network
Drivers ..." On the third screen, select "NDIS Driver Installation and
Information". On the forth screen, select the 1st menu item, "Update NDIS
drivers". On the fifth screen, select "Update Windows NT 3.5 Driver".
Next, install will prompt you for the drive and path to begin searching for
the driver. Enter the drive letter followed by a colon. Install will now
search the drive for a EtherLink III Windows NT driver. If it finds a file
name match, it will prompt you to update the file. Enter "Y" to update.
After the drive search is complete, the program will pause to allow you to
review the update. Press any key to return to menu five. The installation
is complete, so enter ESC until the Install program terminates.
