Version 5.0.2.43 Driver 3.0.3.0 9/10/2004 ======================================================================= Thank you for purchasing the UltraTV USB 300. This README file contains additional notes and limitations for configuring and using the UltraTV application. For more information on this product or its usage, please refer to the User Manual. ATTENTION! Section 1 is only for users who have a previous version of the UltraTV Driver and Software installed. Please follow these steps exactly in order for the new driver and software to work correctly. ======================================================================= 1. Remove Previous Driver and Software ======================================================================= 1.1 Warning! Do not use the Add/Remove programs control panel to remove the previous version of the drivers. Doing so may cause the new driver installation to fail. Please refer to Section 5 if you need to correct this problem. 1.2 Insert UltraTV USB installation CD into your CD-ROM. The UltraTV Installation menu should run automatically. If Autorun has been disabled on your machine, open the CD from Windows Explorer and double click "autorun.exe". 1.3 Click on the "Install/Uninstall Driver" link 1.4 Choose "Remove all installed features" 1.5 Click on the "Next" button, and then click "OK" to uninstall the driver. 1.6 Click on the "OK" button to reboot the system. 1.7 After the system reboots, access Windows Control Panel. 1.8 Click on Add/Remove programs. 1.9 Highlight UltraTV USB 300 and click on the Change/Remove button. 1.10 Click on the "Next" button to Remove Application. 1.11 The old driver and software removal is now complete. ======================================================================= 2. Install new Drivers and Software ======================================================================= 2.1 WARNING! DO NOT PLUG IN THE "UltraTV USB 300" DEVICE BEFORE INSTALLATION. 2.2 Before installing the UltraTV USB driver please make sure that your USB 2.0 host controller driver has been successfully installed. For installing USB 2.0 host controller driver, please refer to "Installing USB 2.0 Host Controller driver FAQs". 2.3 Please insert UltraTV USB installation CD into your CD-ROM. The Installation menu should run automatically. If Autorun has been disabled on your machine, open the CD from Windows Explorer and double- click "autorun.exe". 2.4 Click "Install/Uninstall Driver" and follow the onscreen instructions to install the driver. If you encounter problems with the driver installer, you can access to the "\Driver" subdirectory in the CD, and double click "Setup.exe". 2.5 After you complete the driver installation, plug in the "UltraTV USB 300" device. 2.6 Click on the UltraTV USB 300 icon on the task bar to bring up the autorun install menu. 2.7 Click on the "UltraTV USB 300" link and follow the onscreen instructions to install the new version of the application. 2.8 Click on the UltraTV USB 300 icon on the task bar to bring up the autorun install menu. Click on Exit. 2.9 The UltraTV USB 300 is now installed. Please refer to the User's Guide for instructions on how to use the application. ======================================================================= 3. Operation Notes ======================================================================= 3.1 The UltraTV application uses DirectX functionality. Please close the UltraTV application before running games or other applications that use DirectX. 3.2 If you experience problems with the display or video quality, update your video card drivers to the latest version. 3.3 To resume from Power Saving mode to perform a scheduled task, the Control Panel "Power Management" item "Prompt for password when computer goes of standby" must be unchecked. 3.4 It is recommended to set your display properties to 32 bit color. You can adjust the desktop color quality in the Display Properties page under the Control Panel. You may experience some problems if you attempt to change the desktop resolution or bitdepth while running the application. Please close the application before making changes to the desktop resolution or color quality. ======================================================================= 4. All Frequency Scan Information ======================================================================= 4.1 You will need to perform All Frequency Scan only if the default autoscan is unable to memorize all channels in your viewing area. 4.2 When you perform All Frequency Scan, frequencies starting from 50 MHz to 800 MHz which correspond to active channels will be memorized. Each will be assigned to a channel number, starting from channel number 1 and onwards. If you need to change channel up/down sequence, you can use channel group to reorganize it and merge your favorite channel in a group. 4.3 If you need to restore the original channel scan settings after performing an All Frequency Scan, click on the All Frequency Scan button and press the Restore button. NOTE: This function will take several minutes to complete, please be patient. ======================================================================= 5. Known issues ======================================================================= 5.1 If you had a previous driver installed and used the add/remove programs control panel to remove the drivers, you will need to install the new 3.0.3.0 driver from the CD, then uninstall the 3.0.3.0 driver from the add/remove programs control panel. After rebooting the system, you should be able to follow the steps in Section 2: Install New Drivers and Software. 5.2 Screen savers and power saver modes should be disabled while running the UltraTV application. This can be adjusted in the Display Properties options under the Control Panel. 5.3 For users using VIA VT6202 USB 2.0 host controller chipset or VIA VT8235 motherboard chipset. If the UltraTV USB 300 is not working properly, please go to the VIA website to download the latest driver. at the following location: http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=71#usb 5.4 For users with OrangeMicro USB 2.0 host controller. If you experience short green lines when you are watching video with Ulead MovieFactory, please go to OrangeMicro website (www.orangemicro.com) or Windows Update website (www.windowsupdate.com) to download the latest USB 2.0 host controller drivers. 5.5 For updated USB 2.0 support, Windows XP users should have Service Pack 1 (SP1) or Service Pack 2 (SP2) installed. CD or DVD Burner Required for Recording CDs or DVDs (not included). ======================================================================= Installing USB 2.0 Host Controller driver - Windows XP ======================================================================= Before using the "UltraTV USB 300", you must ensure that the USB 2.0 host controller driver has been installed on your system. Please install the USB 2.0 host controller driver which accompanied with your host controller card or your motherboard. Or you can download the driver from Microsoft especially when your USB 2.0 host controller chipset is NEC chipset. The USB 2.0 support is now available in Windows XP Service Pack 1, and you may not need to download the driver. If you do not have Windows XP Service Pack1 installed in your computer, you must to install the USB 2.0 host controller driver through "Windows Update". http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ Click the "Windows Update Catalog" link on the right pane of the page. If the "Windows Update Catalog" link does not appear, please perform the following steps to make it visible. 1. Click "Personalize Windows Update". 2. Click "Display Windows Update Catalog" on the right pane. 3. Click "Update" button to save the setting. Download the driver. 1. Click the "Find driver updates for hardware devices" link. 2. Click "Other hardware". 3. In the "Manufacturer" name box, click "Microsoft Corporation". 4. In the "Operating System" box, click "Windows XP family". 5. Click "Search". 6. Download "Microsoft USB Driver Version 5.1.2600.0." Please be aware that if you are going to download the driver from "Windows Update", you have to choose "Windows 2000 family" in item 4 for driver downloads.Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
