The following problems have been fixed in the current release:
 1. When running DDTEST, and then opening and closing Active Movie sessions,
    an "OUTOFVIDEOMEMORY" error would be reported. This was due to the failure
    of ddraw to release offscreen video memory used for Overlay buffer when
    Active Movie session was closed.

 1.  When playing an MPEG file and panning in mode 1280x1024 and 1024x768
     colors, the color key seeps from the right.
 2.  The stretch mode does not stretch the direct draw window.
 3.  The TVOut modes do not align the video window properly.
 4.  The TVOut video playback is not being forced to an even start line.
 5.  All known video alignment problems.

This driver release enables direct draw hardware overlay support.

The following problems have been fixed in the current release:
 1. FR499. Cursor disappears after return from video mode test.
 2. FR508. Switching from NTSC mode to LCD mode using CHIPS TAB shifts image to
    upper part of screen, with lower portion filled with garbage.
 3. Blue Screen when running EDIT in DOS Window and then switched to Full Screen.
 4. NTSC/PAL Video Mode switch to DOS Full Screen has incorrect font.

Installation of Chips Control Panel for NT (CNTNTDSP) has been added to
oemsetup.inf.

The following problems have been fixed in the current release:
 1. 65550 -- Systems that are configured to support NTSC/PAL Video would get
    corrupted display when running 64K Color mode and switching from DOS Window
    to DOS Fullscreen session.

 2. FR262. Invalid Video Modes presented for selection in Display Settings when
    system is switched to Simultaneous Display Mode.

 3. Systems with 65535/65540 adapters hang during boot.

The following problems have been fixed in the current release:
 1. Pre-install of driver does not work. Defaults to VGA.
 2. 65548 -- Cannot switch to Full Screen DOS session.
 3. 65548 -- When in Display Settings, selecting Test to test new display
    setting causes system to hang.

    Failures 2,3 are due to a problem with BIOS Set Refresh function,
    which was introduced in later versions of 65548 Video BIOS. Fix has been
    temporarily made in miniport driver until BIOS fix is available.

 4. 65545/548 VL/ISA -- The system will hang when doing a Restart after
    shutdown.

 5. When switching to NTSC video, two cursor images appear on screen.

 6. FR399. 64K and 16M color video modes fail n 65548.

 7. FR329,FR330. 64300/64310 does not work with current NT4.0 driver.

 1. Added support for Generic Modes 36,46,47,56,57. Custom panel information
    is no longer hard coded in driver. Panel information is obtained with
    BIOS.
 2. Cursor movement and position is not correct when Graphics Mode stretching
    is enabled. Switch to software cursor is now done to allow proper cursor
    movement.
 3. Added ExtEscape functions to support Chips VPM.

1. Fixed problem with corruption in display window when using Media Player to
   play an MPEG (.MPG) file.

2. Fixed problem with AVI window freezing when playing and an overlapping DOS
   Command Prompt window was switched to full screen, then switched back to
   a window, and then minimized to tak bar. Media Player control would indicate
   that the video clip was playing, but nothing was being drawn in AVI window.

3. Fixed problem with 24bpp Transparent SRC/DST bitblt operations in Direct Draw.

4. Modified code to correctly output large font (glyphs) that reside in "packed"
   font files.

1. Added Direct Draw bitblt support for 6555x, 6554x.

2. Fixed the following problems:

   a. Full screen graphic VDMs are stretched vertically and horizontally.

   b. Mouse cursor disappears when you go to the right edge or bottom edge
      in 800x600 or 1024x768 modes.

   c. Start WinNT 4.0 with true color mode(mode 50 or 52). Select any
      background pattern from the Display Properties Background sheet. Click OK.
      You will see that the background palette is corrupt.

   d. Memory size detection and mode missing problem on 65554.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
