[1] Installation

   Run 'Setup.exe' to install PrintGuide. If an older version of
   PrintGuide is already installed on the machine, the setup will
   ask whether the installed PrintGuide should be upgraded or not.
   It is therefore NOT necessary to uninstall PrintGuide before
   installing a new one. Please ensure that PrintGuide is not
   running while installing. If any files the update program needs
   to overwrite are blocked, you will be asked to restart the machine.

   Operating Systems supperted:
   Windows 95, 98, 98 SE, ME, NT4, 2000, XP, Server 2003

   ---------------- Version S42 065.20x and 065.30x --------------
   New Features:
      * Sweep Utility.
           The Sweep Utility is a feature that makes it possible to up- and
           download data (firmware/configuration) to/from multible devices.
           The Sweep utility can be configured to do the update during the
           night. It can be configured to start at a certain time.
           An e-mail can be send to the administrator with an attached log.
           When updating firmware, the Sweep Utility is able to locate the
           relevant firmware files from a given directory.
           The Sweep can be used to backup configurations from all devices
           in the network, to update all devices in the network with new
           firmware, to restart print servers during night and much more...
      * VPA Check setting added to IPDS configuration sheet
      * Support for password/lock protection for hardware print servers.
            Same password/lock functionality as known from most software
            based print servers.
      * Auto IP support.
      * Support for enabling/disabling of FTP protocol.
      * Support for new products.
      * PrintGuide update reminder notification.
           PrintGuide detects if it discovers one or more unknown device(s). If
           that happens, a dialog pops up with a message that suggests to
           upgrade PrintGuide. It is then possible to launch a web browser
           with PrintGuide's web site directly from the dialog.
      * Support for web interface settings (HTTP): Port number and time out.
      * SNMP Destination TRAP UDP Port configuration support.
  Improvements:
      * Automatically retries to connect to devices when firmware updates fails
           Previous version could fail to download firmware to some devices.
           Now, PrintGuide automatically retries the firmware update mechanism
           several times before it gives up.
      * Logical Printer Status area now contains more usable information information
        when no status is available.
      * When double-clicking a device that is in "Awaiting Code" mode you will
        now be asked whether you want to download a firmware file to the device.
      * When Logical Printer Status is received, the list of Logical Printer Status
        automatically scrolls down to first Logical Printer with a status that is
        different from "Ready".
      * Miscellaneous.
   Fixes:
      * "No PCL Group" problem solved.
           The way PrintGuide enumerates trays has been changed. If
           changing a tray value for a specific language, the PRESENT
           parameter will automatically be set to YES for this language.
      * Filter functionality now works on all Windows XP installations.
      * Monitor Load problem solved.
           When previous versions loaded the monitor list data from file,
           the print servers that was included in the load data but was turned
           off, did not show up in the list. All print servers in the internal
           list was idenltifyed after load, and only the print servers that
           replied was reported to the GUI. This is now fixed.
      * DocOut for Linux: When selecting PDF as language, spool setting not changed
      * Lock support: Missing prompt for password if it has been changed from
        another PrintGuide.
   Known Problems:
      * Running large fonts may result in text truncation in the GUI.
   Changes:
      * GUI: Application Icons
      * Installation: Default Program Group
      * Miscellaneous.
   ---------------- Version S42 065.19x ----------------
   New Features:
      * Filename can now be specified for replacement strings.
           Only some PrintServers can handle this.
      * Windows XP look and feel on Windows XP.
      * The Logical Printer Configuration dialog is now sizeable.
           This feature makes it easier to i.e. overview and
           configure a large number of printer trays.
      * Special characters conversion.
           Chararters that are not valid in ITDS (e.g. double quotes) can
           now be used where the PrintServer supports escape-characters
           (e.g. PDF settings, Spool Options etc). This mean that the
           user now can enter a double quote and a double quote appears
           on the screen. PrintGuide converts the double quote to an escape
           character when the parameter is converted to ITDS. When the
           parameter is read from ITDS the opposite happens (e.g. 0x22
           converted to "). To satisfy The advanced user, it is still
           possible to enter escape characters.
      * Printer Memory can be configured.
      * Enhanced printer trays and printer output bin setup.
      * IPDS Resolution for IBM IP40 can be configured.
      * Direct configuration selection of Logical Printers from Monitor View.
           When double-clicking a Logical Printer in the Monitor View,
           PrintGuide selects the corresponding Logical Printer in
           the Configuration View after the configuration has been uploaded,
           and launches the Logical Printer Configuration dialog.
      * DCA Matrix settings for DocOut.
           The Language dropdown list in the SCS/DCA settings sheet has been
           extended with a 'Matrix' option. When selecting Matrix, a
           a new dropdovn list occours below the language dropdown list.
           In this new dropdown it is possible to choose which matrix emulation
           to use. Note: This feature is only available on PrintServers
           supporting Matrix option settings.
      * New menu entry: "Monitor | Clear Monitor List"
      * New menu entry: "Monitor | Add device(s)..."
           It is now possible to add a new PrintServer to the Monitor List.
           A wizard will guide you through the process. It is here
           possible to import and export a list of addresses and to specify
           whether the current Net Group (PrintGuide's internal list of
           discovered devices) should be updated. This is a convenient way
           to add new PrintServers without having to broadcast the entire
           network.
           Note: PrintGuide's internal list of discovered devices can be
           automatically or manually saved and reloaded to files (see the
           Preferences dialog).
      * 'Restart...' menu entry added to PrintServer Menu.
           It is now possible to force the selected PrintServer to restart.
      * Support for Linux DocOut configuration and monitoration.
           Linux DocOut (080) is reconized as a software PrintServer and is
           treated more and less like a Windows DocOut (062).
      * More keyboard shortcuts added.
      * Even better control, eg.:
           Select a Prinserver, press <TAB>, select a Logical Printer (using
           up and down keys), press <ENTER>
      * Miscellaneous.

   Fixes:
      * PDF/PS/PCL Settings tab visibily problem solved.
           In some cases the PDF/PS/PCL tab disappeared when text fields
           are cleared in the PDF/PS/PCL Settings sheet.
      * The 'Monitor Files' setting in Preferences dialog can now be
        changed from an invalid name to a valid name (before it reverted
        back to the invalid name).
      * Now it is not possible to enter a double quote where PrintServer
        do not support escape characters (E.g. PrintServer Name).
      * DLC problems solved.
      * Telnet Print: Missing double quotes problem on Message Queue and
        Message Queue Library fixed.
      * Problems with Configure Logical Printer dialog on systems using
        Large Fonts has been solved!
      * Miscellaneous.

   Changes:
      * Monitor List files default location is now "Net Groups".
      * Printer settings is now devided into three catagories:
           General, Trays/bins and Bindings.

      * Document Summery setup (PDF/Postscript/PCL settings).
           PrintGuide can now configure the summery fields
           in the generated output. A property sheet will
           show up in the Configure dialog if the PrintServer
           being configured supports these new settings. The name
           of the property sheet will be either 'PDF', 'Postscript
           or 'PCL5', depending on the language used in the
           selected Logical Printer.
      * Support for new products.
      * Support for IP40 Emulation selection.
      * Memory usage for a Logical Printer can now be configured.
           In the Configure Logical Printer dialog it is now
           possible to setup the amount of memory the selected

           Printer dialog includes a new sheet with all relevant
           TIFF settings.

      * Progress indication.
           A progress bar is now shown when transferring new

           parameters that have been modified.

           When saving to file system in Configuration Mode,
           the file will now contain the complete configuration

     can easily be reconfigured:

        These are the steps you must follow if you wish to add an
        additional tray and 'Auto Configure Printer Settings' is
        disabled in the Printer Configuration | Output dialog.

        1. Double-click the device in the monitor list.
        2. Double-click the logical printer.

           'Installed' status from 'NO' to 'YES' for the additional
           tray(s).

        5. Download the changed configuration to the device.

           again.
        7. Double-click the logical printer.
