Note: This driver is for TallyGenicom 2248 printers.
Do not use with other printers.
When printing using Windows Vista, change the printer settings back to
the factory default.
Otherwise the printer may not function as expected.

TallyGenicom 2248 printer driver consists of the following files:

3. Printer driver setup

3.1 Before setting up
---------------------
- Prepare the following for setup:
1) Windows Vista or Windows Vista x64 Edition operating system
2) Printer Driver Disk (this disk)
- When setting up, log on with an Administrator account.
- <Windows needs your permission to continue> may be displayed in the <User
Account Control> dialog box during the setup process.
If so, select <Continue>.
- If the TallyGenicom 2248 printer driver has already been set up,
delete it and set up again.
- This guide includes procedures on installing printer drivers on locally
connected PC's.
For installation methods on network connection and shared printers, refer to
the Windows Vista user's manual or ghelph.
- In the setup methods below, "Start" refers to the Windows logo in the bottom
left of the desktop.

3.2 Setup method using Add Printer Wizard (without using Plug & Play)
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Set up the printer by running the Add Printer Wizard.
The procedure described here assumes that Windows Vista or Windows Vista x64
Edition is already running.
a. Select "Start" -> "Control Panel" -> "Hardware and Sound" -> "Printers".
b. Select <Add a printer> from the printer folder.
c. Select <Add a local printer> when the <Add Printer> wizard is displayed.
d. Specify which port the printer will connect to, and then click the <Next>
button.
e. Select <Have Disk> when the <Install the printer driver> screen is
displayed.
f. Insert this disk in the CD drive (D:) and change the path from "A:\" to
"D:\Drivers\2248\English\Vista".
** In this example, the CD drive is drive D:.
If another letter is being used for the CD drive letter, change the drive
letter accordingly.
g. Several model names will be displayed in a list box.
Select the model to be used, and then click the <Next> button.
** If "Which version of the driver do you want to use?" is displayed,
select <Replace the current printer>.
h. When the <Type a printer name> window is displayed, enter the printer name
(to change the printer name, enter the new printer name), make settings for
the default printer, and then click the <Next> button.
i. "Windows can't verify the publisher of this driver software" will be
displayed in the <Windows Security> dialog box, but select "-> Install this
driver software anyway".
j. The wizard will start copying files.
k. Specify whether to share the printer, and then click the <Next> button.
To not share the printer: Select <Do not share this printer>.
To share the printer : Select <Share this printer so that others on your
network can find and use it> and enter a <Share
name>, <Location> and <Comment>.
** This window will only be displayed if <User Account Control (UAC)> is
disabled.
l. Make sure that "You've successfully added TallyGenicom 2248" is displayed,
and then click the <Finish> button to end the wizard.
The <Print a test page> button will be displayed, so print a test page if
necessary.
** Make sure that the printer is online when printing test pages.
** Notes on printing test pages
- Test pages are printed according to the current printer driver
settings.
- The default settings for the printer driver are "Automatically Select"
for the paper feed method, and "Letter" for the paper size, so insert
Letter-sized paper before printing the test page.
- To use a non-default paper size, change the settings before printing
the test page.
This completes the setup procedure for the printer driver.
If the printer is set up using this method, the <Found New Hardware> window may
be displayed when the computer is restarted.
If this happens, perform the setup procedure again.

3.3 Using Plug & Play
---------------------
Require: Be sure to turn off the power to both the computer and the printer.
a. Make sure that the printer is connected to the computer, and then turn on
the power to the printer.
b. Make sure that the printer is online, and then turn on the power to the
computer and start Windows Vista or Windows Vista x64 edition.
c. If the printer is detected successfully, "Windows needs to install driver
software for your TallyGenicom 2248" will be displayed in the <Found New
Hardware> dialog box.
d. Select <Locate and install driver software (recommended)>.
e. When "Insert the disc that with your TallyGenicom 2248" is displayed,
insert the printer driver disk in the CD-ROM.
** If the setup disk has already been inserted in the drive before this
window is displayed, the <Next> button will be displayed, so click the
<Next> button.
** To use the latest version of the printer driver downloaded from our
Website, select "-> I don't have the disc. Show me other options."
and then go to step g.
f. When "Please select the best match for your hardware from the list below."
is displayed, select the driver in the "D:\Drivers\2248\English\Vista"
folder for the <Location> description, and then click the <Next> button.
Go to step i.
** In this example, the CD drive is drive D:.
If another letter is being used for the CD drive letter, change the drive
letter accordingly.
g. When the <Windows couldn't find driver software for your device> window is
displayed, click <Browse my computer for diver software (advanced)>.
h. When the "Browse for driver software on your computer" window is displayed,
enter "(name of the folder containing the downloaded driver data) \Drivers\
2248\English\Vista" in the <Search for driver software in this location:>
field, and then click the <Next> button.
i. "Windows can't verify the publisher of this driver software" will be
displayed in the <Windows Security> dialog box, but select "-> Install this
driver software anyway".
j. The plug-and-play wizard will start copying the files.
k. When the <Found New Hardware - TallyGenicom 2248> is displayed, make sure
that the message "The software for this device has been successfully
installed" is displayed, and then select <Close>.
This completes the setup procedure for the printer driver.
4. Uninstalling the printer driver
<Windows needs your permission to continue> may be displayed in the <User
Account Control> dialog box when the printer driver is deleted.
If so, select <Continue>.
The procedure for deleting the printer driver is as follows.
a. Select "Start" -> "Control Panel" -> "Hardware and Sound" -> "Printers".
b. Select "TallyGenicom 2248" from <Printers>, and then select <Organize> ->
<Delete>.
c. Select <Yes> when the <Are you sure you want to delete the printer
'TallyGenicom 2248' ?> window is displayed.
** If no other printer drivers have been installed, the <The default
printer has been deleted> window will be displayed.
Click the <Close> button.
** If this printer has been set as the default printer, the <The default
printer has been deleted. Change your default printer.> window will be
displayed. Click the <Close> button.
d. Select <Organize> -> <Layout> -> <Menu Bar>.
e. Select <File> -> <Run as administrator> -> <Server Properties>.
f. Click on the <Drivers> tab, and select "TallyGenicom 2248" from the list
of <Installed printer drivers>, and then click the <Remove> button.
g. When the <Remove Driver And Package> window is displayed, select <Remove
driver and driver package>, and then click the <OK> button.
h. When the <Deleting this printer driver package will remove it from the
system. Are you sure you want to delete TallyGenicom 2248 ?> window is
displayed, click the <Yes> button.
i. When the <Remove Driver Package> window is displayed, click the <Delete>
button.
j. When the driver has been deleted, click the <OK> button, and then close the
< Print Server Properties> dialog box by clicking the <Close>.
k. Turn the printer off, and then restart the computer.
This completes the procedure for deleting the printer driver.
5. Printer driver setup method
- Document properties such as paper size and others can be set in the "printer
properties" menu in the application software.
- Depending on the application software used, the paper size settings
of the application software may be the default rather than that of the
"page setting" tab.
- The following is the method for each paper feeding (to set such as paper
size assignment):
[for Windows Vista]
Select "Start" -> "Control Panel" -> "Hardware and Sound" -> "Printers".
"TallyGenicom 2248", and click on the right button of the mouse, select
"properties", specify the "Form to Tray assignment" from the "Device
Settings" tab.
NOTE:
- This method is valid only when the Paper Source setting of the printer
driver is set at the "Automatically Select".
- Please make sure the actual paper size matches the selected paper size.
Use the "Manual Paper Feed" the actual paper size differs from the
selected paper size.
- Refer read the chapter of software in the user's manual for further details.
6. Others
a. The emulation for this driver is in the "ESC/P2" mode.
Make sure the setting of the printer installation corresponds to it.
b. Users are required to adjust devices for such as the paper insertion.
Please make sure the paper settings, as well as the settings from the
operation panel correspond to the printer.
c. Printing from other Windows application software under the Windows Vista
environments may give different results.
d. The contents of "Properties" of the printer driver and "Printing
Preferences" of the printer may overlap.
Please make necessary adjustments to avoid any possible malfunction.
e. Paper size from the "Server Properties" can be set to a maximum width of
10.5 inches. Adjust the right and left margins not the exceed an 8 inch
paper width as the data may not be properly printed.
f. When printing with a "Page per Sheet" specification from the "layout" tab
in the print menu, frame lines may not be printed with some applications.
g. Paper with a length of 3 inches - 14 inches isruled with a width of
10 inches.
When using paper with a width less than 10 inches, please make adjustments
to the right margin of the application not to exceed the maximum possible
range.
h. When using Continuous form with a tractor feeder on this printer, the
possible folding length is 4 inches or more.
When the folding length is the same as the page length, use paper with a
folding length of more than 4 inches.
i. If printing is cancelled from the printer port during printing, restart the
printer.
Continuing printing without restarting the printer may result in problems
such as garbled texts.
j. Continuous Form
- Both the upper and lower margins for continuous form are set at 0mm in
this printer driver. It is recommended that the upper and lower margins
for continuous form using Tractor feeder with this printer is more than
25.4mm.
- The printing head and the ribbon may be damaged when printing on the
perforation lines and sprocket holes.
k. Envelopes
- Print only on the surface side. Do not print on the flap side as the
envelope may be jammed.
- Do not print on envelopes with a window or double-layered envelopes.
- Both the top and bottom margins are set at 25.4mm in this printer driver.
- Printing outside the margin out of guarantee.
- Refer to the following for paper-feeding directions to avoid a paper jam.

l. Adjust the paper guide when printing on B4(JIS) and B5(JIS) paper.
(The left printing margin is set at 13.4mm)
m. The TallyGenicom 2248 printer driver to every connecting port will be set
if the connecting USB port is changed.
(e.g. TallyGenicom 2248 (copy 2) etc.)
Since every setting of the printer driver is the initial value, so
change the setting according to the using state.
n. Note for sharing printer into Network environment
-Printer shared by Network environment may not be able to be used with
Windows Vista because of Windows Firewall.
In this case, change the exceptional settings of Windows Firewall with
following procedure.
1.Select "Start"->"Control Panel"->"Security"->"Allow a program through
Windows Firewall".
2.When the dialogo box of "Windows Firewall", select "Exceptions".
3.Check "File and Printer Sharing", and click "OK".
**In case that the printer installed into Windows Vista is set with
Network sharing setting, automatically checked to "File and printer
share".
o. Changing the paper feed port or paper size with the page setting or
document setting in the application.
The margin size outside the print enabled area can be set even when the
printer driver specified value is not correctly reflected.
To prevent this, first set the paper feed port and paper size you intend
to use with printer properties in the printer folder.
Then change the paper feed port and paper size in the application, or avoid
setting the margin size outside the print enabled area. For information on
the print enabled area (minimal margin size) per individual paper feed ports
and paper sizes, refer to the Users Manual.
p. Some specified printer fonts from the application may not be used depending
on the data format.
q. Based on the application, zoom-in/out printing may always result in
10.5-size fonts.

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
