A.) Installing MDI Unix Driver for SCO ODT 5.0
==============================================

1. Login to the UNIX system as supervisor (root) and enter Maintenance mode.

    (Note: Make sure that the current directory is "/"
     using UNIX command - pwd.)

2. Please follow the following steps to uncompress the package file:

   > cd /tmp (and insert the package floppy in the proper drive, i.e. a:)
   >  doscp a:/sco/5.x/vol.000 ./VOL.000.000

   Now the package installation directory is ready for installing.

3. The following sections describe the configuration of the driver.
   It is suggested that you perform these instructions in a
   singler-user environment.

   Run the custom utility and select the "Install new package"
   option.

   Select Media Type "Media Image" and type Image Directory "/tmp"
   It will prompt with "32-bit PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter (ver 1.0.2)"

   After running the custom utility and the new package is installed,
   you should use the "netconfig" command to add the driver into your
   system like in step 4 below.

4. Run "netconfig". Add the desired chain.

5. When the chain has been configured, select 'q' from the
   netconfig menu. and relink the kernel at the prompt.

6. To activate the adapter, you must reboot. When the system
   boots, you should see the following message among the
   other configuration messages:

    %ethernet  0xD800-0xD81F   11   -   type=100 addr=00-00-e0-xx-xx-xx
                               .
                               .
                               .
     auto mode
     choice is auto negotiation mode
     Speed is 100 Mbps

   with the appropriate I/O addresses, IRQ, Adapter Type, IEEE address and
   medium mode (auto,100full,100half,10full,10half).
   The display of the last three bytes of the IEEE address depends on the
   adapter currently plugged into your system.

7. If you encounter any problems during installation,
   (i.e., an error message appears on screen) call your dealer for assistance.
